Yes, i’d put him ahead of Warner for leadership. Labuschagne as well.

Cam Green, Josh Hazelwood, Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschange, Travis Head, Alex Carey, Adam Zampa, Glen Maxwell, etc. would all be better for the longer term.

Indian opener Ishan Kishan has hit the fastest ever double century (off 126 balls) in an ODI against Bangladesh.

He was finally out for 210 in the 36th over, which propelled India to a final score of 8/409… Kohli also scored a century… Bangalesh got nowhere near it, bowled out for 182.

It is only the 7th time a batter has scored 200+ in an ODI.

He has the best name in cricket imo. An IPL star well before he cracked the Indian team.

Elsewhere, England are continuing to make a mockery of test cricket (well, it’s allowed, they invented it I suppose). It’s surprising its taken this long for a side to realise that test cricket is just two slightly longer T20 innings…not sure if I enjoy it as much as some.

You could say the same about the Aussies… going along at 6 runs an over in their 2nd innings against the Windies yesterday!

Though this was the second innings and with one eye on rest time (and fishing, golf time) before the next test.

Yes, it’s a bit hard to do much else when you’re in Pakistan!
At least they can’t get into trouble with the grog over there.

Another comprehensive win to Australia, thrashing West Indies by 419 runs in Adelaide inside four days, to wrap the two-test series 2-0. The injury-depleted Windies were bowled out for 77 in the second innings, their second lowest score against Australia and their lowest total on Australian soil. The 419 run loss is also the Windies’ biggest ever defeat by runs in Test cricket.

The ending was inevitable after the home side amassed 7/511 in their first innings, thanks to Marnus Labuschagne’s 163 and Travis Head’s 175. With Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood sidelined, the Aussies still had too much firepower, dismissing the Windies twice. Nathan Lyon became the third Australian bowler in history to take 450 wickets.

Head was named player of the match, and Labuschagne player of the series for scoring 502 runs across the two tests.

During the 2nd innings, Many Aussie pace bowlers ripped through the Windies Test Team. Unfortunately, they couldn’t even score a 50 or even a 100 in the Adelaide Test. The West Indies Test Side have became a shadow of its former self. Back in the 1960s to early 1990s they were great, but they have gone into a steep decline. Unfortunately they have never been competitive in Test matches since 2005. Why is it so hard for the West Indies to win a Test Match in the southern hemisphere?
Next year the Windies will play in Australia down under.

Their best players have by and large become T20 specialists/merchants.

And that over time, American sports are having a bigger influence in the W.Indies, so those that might have played cricket are now playing basketball or baseball instead.

This. And the usual problems with governance, money etc. that have beset Caribbean cricket for years. It’s a real pity.

Speaking of T20 specialists, I wouldn’t be surprised if Warner concocts a ‘staged exit’ from test cricket this summer and joins the mercenary brigade. A poor run of form really shouldn’t concern him too much; he’s done well for a man possessing not too much in the thinkin’ department. And no doubt a commentary stint awaits on Australian television; the lack of intellectual rigour there would be a perfect fit.

He should go on the T20 Circuit… his AUS days should be over.

He’s said he’ll play through to the end of the Ashes next year then give up Tests to play limited overs only.

I thought he might have done this post his ban rather then returning to play for Australia - he’d command a decent price being an opener for hire

The Australian women’s team have finally lost a game! It took a Super Over from India to do it though.

VERY close finish in the BBL season opener last night, with the Sydney Thunder scraping home on the last ball to beat the Melbourne Stars by just 1 wicket!

STA 8/122 off 20.0 overs VS THU 9/123 20.0 overs

So I see tonight’s BBL game is in Cairns (Brisbane Heat vs Melbourne Renegades).

I don’t fancy playing cricket up there in that humidity at this time of year. Brisbane is hot enough thank you very much.
