Melbourne Renegades produced a minor upset, beating Brisbane Heat by 22 runs in Cairns tonight. Renegades’ innings was anchored by Nic Maddinson who smashed 87 runs from 49 balls, while Andre Russell contributed 35 runs from 43 towards the end of innings. The Heat got off to a poor start to their run chase, losing two early wickets, and despite the efforts from Colin Munro and team captain Jimmy Peirson, the team never got close to the target of 167.

Needs a better mic that’s for sure

He hooked one down to fine leg for a single, only for the stumps to light up as he swung around, suggesting that he’d stepped on his own wicket.

“All I can think is when his back foot swivelled round and made contact with the ground, it shook the ground,” Smith said.

Previous lowest score for BBL was 57 and this was insane. They were 6 for 9 and then 8 for 10.

This was also the lowest score for any senior T20 league in the world. WTH!

The Thunder batted about as well as I did in under 12s…

I could not believe it when I checked the scores at ESPNCricinfo. All out for 15?! And this was the same team (Sydney Thunder) which won the BBL season opener against Melbourne Stars three nights ago, on the final ball of the match.

BTW, Adelaide Strikers batted first and made 9/139.

Ohhhh my goodness me (as David Lloyd would say).

Top scorer was # 10 Brendan Doggett with 4 !

All out in less than 6 overs!

Holy fuck. Sydney only got 15/10, while Adelaide got 139/9. I can’t believe the score, most be one of the lowest in Twenty20 Cricket history. Sydney Thunder need to get some better players next season. I wonder if Seven will sue again?

That’s the nature of T20 cricket, it won’t always be a high scoring match or a low scoring thriller.

Still very entertaining to watch though.

Just thinking we’re lucky it happened in the second innings because had it been the first and then the Strikers were only chasing 16 for victory there would have been some very disappointed fans only having about half an hour of cricket.

Good Point, i wonder if they would have played a 10 over game just as a bit of fun to keep the fans somewhat happy
