There was a controversial finish to the Bangladesh-Zimbabwe clash at The Gabba yesterday afternoon. Zimbabwe needed five runs to win with one ball left, when Blessing Muzarabani was stumped off the bowling of Mossadek Hossain, and Bangladeshi players began to celebrate. However the third umpire ruled the wicketkeeper collected the ball in front of the stumps, making it a no ball and a free hit. Mossadek had to bowl the delivery again, and Muzarabani swung his bat and missed again, but this time he was not dismissed. So Bangladesh won by three runs.

In the next match, Pakistan beat Netherlands by six wickets at Perth Stadium but both teams struggled with their batting. Netherlands batted first and only made 9/91 at the end of 20 overs, and it took Pakistan until the 14th over to reach the target.

Sri Lanka have beaten Afghanistan team by 6 wickets with 9 balls to spare in Brisbane. Afghanistan started off OK, but lost the final five wickets in the last 5 overs. Sri Lanka got the job done with D de Silva scoring an unbeaten 66 off 42. Following Sri Lanka’s win, Afghanistan is eliminated from the tournament.
Afghanistan have never won a T20 match in the southern hemisphere. Why is it so hard for them to win a game in Australia? :disappointed:

They keep playing teams that play better then they do?

Aren’t these their only games in the southern hemisphere in T20 cricket?

Also, have they never played in Africa? Or New Zealand? They would have surely been a tournament in Nairobi, Zimbabwe, Namibia or South Africa.

New Zealand suffered their first loss in the T20 World Cup, going down to England by 20 runs in Brisbane tonight. England made 6/179 from their 20 overs thanks to half centuries to captain Jos Buttler and fellow opener Alex Hales. Glenn Phillips backed up from his century against Sri Lanka with another impressive ratings of 62 for New Zealand. With six overs to go and eight wickets in hand, the Black Caps were still in with a chance, but England put on the brakes by taking four late wickets.

The result means New Zealand, England and Australia are all on five points, with the Black Caps on top on net run rate. If Australia are to qualify for the semi-finals, they must beat Afghanistan on Friday and rely on England losing to Sri Lanka the following night.

India survived a huge scare to beat Bangladesh by five runs (DLS method) in tonight’s T20 World Cup clash at Adelaide Oval. Opener KL Rahul and captain Virat Kohli scored half centuries to help India to reach 6/184 after 20 overs. In reply, Bangladesh were 0/66 after seven overs with Litton Das blasting the second fastest 50 of the tournament before rain fell. That rain interruption proved to be a turning point, as India took 6/40 in the next six overs (including Litton Das who was run out for 60 when he slipped on the pitch trying to grab a second run) as play resumed, with the target reduced to 151 from 16 overs. Bangladesh made a late charge but fell just short.

Bangladesh was robbed. Had India not been the team in a losing position at the time, they would have waited the extra 10 minutes to properly dry the area.

Despite the rain, was a good night to be at the Oval for this game!

Irish bowler Josh Little has just taken a hat trick against New Zealand!

Kane Willamson was caught in the deep, followed by 2 LBWs, Jimmy Neesham and Mitchell Santner. Both Neesham and Santner reviewed, but both were pretty plumb really.

The Kiwis have still built a pretty good first innings total though of 6 for 185… Ireland will be hard pressed to get these runs against an attack with great pace bowlers like Southee and Boult.

Ireland made a good start reaching 0/68 after eight overs, before steadily losing wickets which slowed down their run chase. The Irish eventually finished on 9/150, losing to New Zealand by 35 runs.

The Black Caps will make the semi-finals if Australia lose to Afghanistan tonight. Aaron Finch and Tim David are out of the Australian side with hamstring problems, while Mitchell Starc has been rested. They are replaced by Cameron Green, Steve Smith and Kane Richardson. Matthew Wade is stand-in captain.

Even if Australia win, NZ will be through to the semis because AUS won’t be able to better NZ’s net run rate - it will only be a small win at best for the Aussies.

It will come down to ENG vs SL to determine if ENG or AUS are knocked out.
