SEN unveils cricket line-up for World Test Championship Final and Ashes series

1930?
Yep, fixed it.
Just heard an ad during ABC Radio’s AFL coverage tonight that it would also broadcast the World Test Championship and the Women’s Ashes series from England, before the men’s series.
Women’s Ashes series from England, before the men’s series.
Simultaneously. Men’s starts before the women’s.

Jeremy Coney will help lead unprecedented cricket coverage for the upcoming Ashes series in the UK.
Last week, the BBC revealed the Test Match Special commentary team for the World Test Championship and the Ashes series.
With an exciting summer of cricket ahead, including the 2023 Ashes on home soil, the BBC will bring all of the action to fans with extensive TV, radio and online coverage.
BBC Test Match Special’s coverage of WTC and Ashes series will be relayed through ABC Local Radio and ABC Listen app across Australia.
Aware its TV but the first women’s T20I would be the first free live Ashes cricket since 2005?
Live sport broadcasts on the ABC can be heard on: ABC listen app: Download the ABC listen app to listen to ABC SPORT's live broadcasts and a suite of podcasts. ABC Radio: where specified in the d...
Interesting to note here it appears ABC Radio’s live coverage of the World Test Championship final next week is going to be on Local Radio in regional areas only (with coverage in metro areas via ABC Sport on DAB+).
ABC Radio in regional Victoria is not taking the cricket as originally scheduled tonight due to the severe rain that has occurred across the state today (and continuing into the night).
I find the SEN coverage, the audio levels is too loud it sort of hard to hear on DAB (too much crowd / and sound from the wicket mic). The app sounds better but still not perfect, certainly the commentators sound better on the app (than normal radio). I don’t think its entirely related to the lower bit rate. Currently I am on SEN Fan and then switched to SEN 1170. The background sound distorts when the Indian players talk.
Where ABC/BBC is perfect. I know ABC/BBC have more money, but I think it just needs some simple tweaks and it would fix it.
What channel can I listen to it? I only use the google home as my radio and when I ask it to play SEN or ABC sport I only get the NRL or AFL???
For the ABC, the only way is to use a connected device with the ABC Listen app downloaded, then go to ABC Cricket and cast to the speaker.
For SEN, if you ask it to play “1170 SEN Sydney” or “693 SENQ”, they are both taking the cricket and you will be able to access their coverage from those stations.
Not sure why the ABC couldn’t put The Ashes on NewsRadio digital while the NRL is on ABC Sport.
Now that it’s on ABC Sport Digital. It’s ahead of 9GemHD.
The agreement means the iconic Test Match Special will broadcast past its 70th Birthday having first provided full ball-by-ball commentary in 1957
We know how much listeners cherish cricket on BBC radio and especially TMS with its unique combination, of expert analysis, lively, engaging and entertaining commentary. It is part of the fabric of cricket and we are delighted this new deal ensures TMS continues its great tradition of making cricket accessible to all.

BBC Sport has today announced an audio deal to extend live cricket coverage across BBC radio and BBC Sounds up to and including the 2028 season.
The new four-year agreement with the ECB extends the existing deal which runs to 2024 and ensures live coverage of all England’s home Tests, one-day internationals and IT20s will continue to be heard exclusively across BBC radio’s airwaves.
The agreement means the iconic Test Match Special will broadcast past its 70th Birthday having first provided full ball-by-ball commentary in 1957. TMS will also cover matches across the men’s County cricket and women’s domestic season with further analysis and news stories available on the BBC Sport website and there will be live commentary of every game from The Hundred on BBC Radio and BBC Sounds.
Barbara Slater, Director, BBC Sport, says: “We know how much listeners cherish cricket on BBC radio and especially TMS with its unique combination, of expert analysis, lively, engaging and entertaining commentary. It is part of the fabric of cricket and we are delighted this new deal ensures TMS continues its great tradition of making cricket accessible to all.”
Tony Singh, ECB Chief Commercial Officer, says: “For many people, TMS, BBC Radio and BBC Sounds will be constant companions through a thrilling summer of cricket. As well as being the only place to go for live audio commentary of The Ashes, it’s also the home of so much great coverage of men’s county and women’s domestic cricket and The Hundred. We’re delighted that we have also now agreed an extension to this winning partnership so that listeners can continue to tune in to BBC Radio and BBC Sounds for live cricket commentary for a further four years.”
Cricket on BBC radio and BBC Sounds is part of an extensive audio rights portfolio that includes live football such as Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and EFL Cup, The Olympic Games, the World Athletics Championships, Men’s Golf Majors including the Masters and The Open Championship, Formula 1, the Six Nations and the tennis Grand Slam tournaments including the Wimbledon Championships.
The 2023 Women’s Ashes series starts today with the sole test match at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. It will only be broadcast in full on ABC Sport digital radio and ABC Listen app across all five days.
The BBC Radio Test Match Special commentary team is: Jonathan Agnew, Alison Mitchell, Henry Moeran, Melissa Story, Melinda Farrell, Ebony Rainford-Brent, Alex Hartley, Georgia Elwiss, Katherine Sciver-Brunt (who retired from all international cricket in May) and Alex Blackwell.

SEN’s commentary team for the match: Adam Collins, David Lloyd, Jeremy Coney, Bharat Sundaresan, Peter Lalor, Geoff Lemon, Phil Walker, Louis Cameron (cricket.com.au) and Phil Long.
Geoff Lemon was on BBC TMS earlier in the summer right? Interesting that he’s swapped mid-series.
Love his work by the way. Aligns him once again with his old sparring partner Adam Collins, who do the Final Word podcast together. It’s a great podcast too, well worth a listen for the reasonable cricket fan.
