So what did the BBC do? Did they just take the ABC feed?
yep, The commentators were saying "⌠On ABC Sport and BBC Radio 5 liveâ.
For the whole rest of the Test?
Pretty sure I heard that for any least the day after the covid issue, but I think by day 5 they had their own commentary back, I presume bot from the ground.
The full ABC and BBC commentary teams are at the MCG for the Boxing Day test.
Corbin Middlemas replaces Andrew Moore for this test only.
December 27 -
ABC Radio and SEN will both be one member short today. Alison Mitchell and Simon Katich wonât be available today as they undergo further COVID testing, after a member of Sevenâs production team tested positive to the virus.
UPDATE: former England captain David Gower is providing special comments for ABC Radioâs broadcast today. He is also part of BTâs commentary team at the ground.
UPDATE 2: Alison Mitchell returned to ABC commentary for the start of second session today.
UPDATE 3: former England bowler Steve Finn, who is in Australia working for the BBC as a commentator, has been forced to spend two weeks in isolation in his Adelaide hotel room after showing symptoms. He wasnât the BBC commentator who originally tested positive.
Presumably they are only the NZ rights holders and any worldwide broadcast would be in breach of their rights?
You could still listen, just click on Magic Talk and it plays
Strange that works. Hope they donât âfix itâ.
Is there any other broadcaster of Cricket in NZ, I heard the Alternate Cricket call are doing one? And I think SENZ are doing selected series.
Itâs all got a bit complicated since Radio Sport lost the rights and then shut down.
SENZ picked up the NZ tours of England and India in 2021 as well as the T20 WC, and also has Ashes and Big Bash calls courtesy of its Australian parents.
Magic Talk has the home rights and has a summer left to run on this arrangement.
Gold AM (formerly Radio Sport) had the World Test Championship final and also has the Aus v NZ ODIs later this summer.
The ACC (of NZME ownership, along with GOLD) will be doing the Aussie ODI Series too, and probably some other watch-alongs over the summer for games they donât the rights to.
ABC Radio commentary team for the 4th Ashes test: Jim Maxwell, Andrew Moore, Stuart Clark, Kristen Beams, Ian Chappell, Steve Finn (fresh out of COVID isolation in Adelaide).
Moore said this morning that Jonathan Agnew had been sick and tested negative for COVID twice, and hoped to be in the commentary box later in the match. Agnewâs BBC colleague Henry Moeran will commentate for the ABC for the next couple of days.
Alison Mitchell is in Melbourne calling the action for Seven.
SEN have a split commentary team with some (including Gerard Whateley, Anthony Hudson and Damian Fleming) calling from SENâs Melbourne studios while others (including Simon Katich and Michael Atherton) are at the SCG.
Triple Mâs coverage has been impacted by COVID issues. While they do have people like Dan Ginnane and Izzy Westbury at the SCG, a few members (such as James Brayshaw and Mark Taylor) are calling from home studios. Meanwhile, Jack Heverin is part of the stationâs coverage for this test in place of Gus Worland who recently tested positive to COVID.
Hamish Blake is also part of the coverage (I havenât been listening but have seen him (with Andy and JB) on TikTok)
So, I donât understand why Worland isnât doing it from home but Callum Ferguson (who also has COVID) is commentating from home in Adelaide?
Iâd never heard of Heverin before today, but heâs done a good job given challenging circumstances.
Alex Hartley and BBCâs Henry Moeran will be part of ABC Radio commentary team for the Womenâs Ashes, it was revealed today.
Andrew Moore said this morning (Thursday) that Jonathan Agnew would be in the commentary box for day 2 of the fourth Ashes test. Moore said Agnew had been suffering from âtummy sicknessâ and not COVID.
Ads misfiring constantly over the cricket on 3MMM right now. Listening on DAB+ but about to stream it from another station if it continues.
Heâs a former SEN commentator with a lot of experience across a wide variety of sports. Also has done some TV hosting and NBL TV commentary. Always found him very classy and informative no matter what sport he commentates.
