I get what you mean, but they’re both pundits when it comes to cricket, they (all radio commentators these days really) do more than just call the action. The term expert comments or special comment would be more apt.
No Alastair Nicholson is interesting. Must be stepping up at Ch7?
The team listed in the cricket guide is the core team. I think Alastair will call the MCG test.
Agnew is as British as the shipping forecast on 198 LW.
it was also probably prepared 4 to 6 weeks ago to allow for printing and distribution. there would def be addions by now
Not exactly certain of that given there’s already 4 main callers (which they need with Ali I assume still doing Channel 7).
I also assume BBC are taking the whole Grandstand feed rather than sending their own team out or doing their own broadcast which unlike other recent overseas England tours they have the rights to (TalkSport have had rights to England away tours for a few years).
Triple M team so far announced:
Ian Botham (Returning)
Mark Howard (Returning)
James Brayshaw (Returning)
Merv Hughes (Returning)
Greg Blewett (Returning)
Brad Haddin (Returning)
Isabelle Westbury (New)
Mark Taylor (New)
From the last ashes on Triple M, Kerry O’Keeffe, Mick Molloy, Lawrence Mooney, Gus Worland, HG Nelson, Isa Guha, Adam Gilchrist, Mark Waugh , Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee and Jason Gillespie have been omitted.
While some of them won’t be returning for obvious reasons, the last line of the link you posted notes that:
There will be further commentary team announcements as the Gabba test gets closer.
As such, guessing they might be keeping one or two of those individuals up their sleeves for future announcements.
Worland mentioned on the Dead Set Legends on the weekend that he would be involved
Michael Vaughn won’t be covering the Ashes.
He’s still part of Fox Cricket’s coverage on TV though.
Gerard Whateley just announced that Mike Atherton will be joining the SEN commentary team.
The matches will also be available across the SEN network in Australia and on the SEN app.
Aaron Finch, Callum Ferguson, Gus Worland and Andy Lee will join Triple M’s commentary team for the Ashes series which starts next week. Finch (who will also be part of Fox Cricket’s line up this summer) is available as he is taking a break after leading Australia to triumph in the recent T20 World Cup, and won’t be playing for Melbourne Renegades in the BBL for several weeks.
Did I read correctly? Andy Lee on Triple M Cricket?
Maybe we can get Hamish & Andy on Triple M Drive in 2023.
It’s a shame Isa Guha and Kerry O’Keffee (the two standouts of Triple M Cricket’s last run) couldn’t be part of the network’s coverage again this Summer. However, probably shouldn’t be surprised considering how Fox are ‘hesitant’ to allow their commentators/pundits to be involved with radio commentatries unless there’s a pre-existing relationship (eg; Mark Howard with Triple M & Anthony Hudson with SEN).
Out of interest with Brisbane test this week who out of SEN, ABC and Triple M will be at the ground?
Is it just SEN doing the big bash?
Only SEN will be doing the Big Bash this season. The good news is that all matches, including those involving Hobart Hurricanes, will be heard on the airwaves in Hobart though 1629AM, as well as the SEN app across Tasmania.
Former England fast bowler Steven Finn is joining ABC Radio and BBC Radio’s commentary team for the upcoming Ashes series. He is currently in hotel quarantine in Sydney.
Finn played in three Ashes series (2010/11 in Australia, 2013 and 2015 in England).
Are they doing joint commentary or is he just going between ABC and BBC Radio coverage?
