I should add, I did it online @foxyrover . I am in Sydney.
Tonightâs BBL grand final between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers is not broadcast on ABC Radio. I think itâs the first time since the competition began in season 2011/12 the ABC has not covered the title decider. Even though Crocmedia has the radio rights in the past few seasons, the ABC has been able to broadcast the final, until now.
What? The ABC has never had BBL rights.
The ABC did have the BBL rights for at least one season, and covered every grand final until tonight.
I think you will find ABC had the rights to the final only since they lost the rights.
Something we missed over the past few months is that radio station Magic Talk is covering New Zealandâs Twenty20 series against Australia (which began yesterday), as well as the upcoming womenâs ODI and T20 series against Australia.
Although the coverage is available via Magic Talkâs streaming app Rova, I am not sure if it can be heard in Australia.
Yeah I listen to it last night Via the Rova app.
It was working fine via the Tune In app
For those who want to listen to test cricket in India, you can listen to talksport 2, I use the tunein app. Very interesting test match.
Veteran ABC commentator Jim Maxwell was presented with a lifetime achievement award during last weekâs Sport Australia Media Awards, which were held online due to COVID-19.
Not on the main channel of course. That is talkSOCCER.
The commentary team is Jim Maxwell, Geoff Lemon, Robin Chipperfield, Stuart Clark and Dirk Nannes.
Jim Maxwell, Quentin Hull and Zane Bojack leads the ABCâs commentary team for the Sheffield Shield final between Queensland and NSW, starting this morning at Allan Border Field.
A bit of a shame I canât listen to the cricket here on radio
BBC live sports extra says itâs unavailable due to location
Vanessa, Patricia and Nancy are your friends. Thereâs also Guerilla Cricket who cover all matches involving England, but I find them a bit too silly and low-brow.
Donât think this can be described as a âsoft launchâ. However, SENZ will be providing ball-by-ball coverage of the 2nd test between NZ and England via the SEN app
May as well have SEN Australia take the call.
The app is named SEN & SENZ as SEN in NZ does not have a separate app, so I wonder if it will be possible to listen to the SENZ cricket coverage in Australia on app?
I wonder how it works for the ârightsâ. Given SEN would have to buy it, if it technically can be heard globally then it is a breach (as rights are sold on a country by country basis?) BBC have always had a geo-block on. Should SENZ should in theory be a separate APP and only can downloaded in NZ? Or within the SEN app they need to implement something like below. (Instead it would say can only be played in NZ.)
In the SEN app, under guide SENZ has included the cricket in the schedule. It isnât on SEN âAustraliaâ, ie on track or normal SEN.
