COVID-19: Perth Lockdown

Some states (aka Queensland) act before the federal definition of a hotspot.

NSW will be the last to act.

I’m sure Scott will be all over it, he’s never asleep at the wheel.

That’s exactly what has happened:

WA Government Infographic.

Queensland are first… an announcement expected soon from Victoria.

This certainly won’t be the last regional lockdown in Australia.

It exposes the crack in WA’s hotel quarantine system. Why aren’t the workers tested regularly? Why was he allowed to work on a second job?

Daily testing started this week. Unfortunate timing, but considering the size of hotel quarantine operations not all that surprising it took a few weeks after the national cabinet recommendation to implement it.

This is the big one that needs to be addressed IMO. I wonder what the rules are in other states.

If the staff are tested daily the risk of staff working multiple jobs is reduced. They should have the option available to them.

A lot of chat about masks in Perth on 6PR. An excuse for the panic buying today is that no one has a mask so no one will be able to leave their homes after 6pm tonight.

The premier specifically said a few weeks ago to get a mask, the warnings have been their for over a year. I haven’t seen any information that a mask has to be medical grade or professionally made. I doubt any Western Australian will get any grief from authorities for wearing a home made mask which there are numerous online how-to guides

They have been extended to supermarkets, etc. Coles, Kmart, etc all have the QR code’s. But I see a lot of people ignoring it, which is stupid.

They really need to move quarantine remotely. Could you imagine if they were doing their quarantine in say Kalgoorlie? No lockdown of a city of 2 million would be required.

A plane carrying WA-based MPs and Senators touched down in Canberra this evening.

The extension to other retail and venues not covered when the SAFEWA app was launched wasn’t to be enforced until the 12th of Feb.

yeah look this is annoying, luckily I have a mask but going into work tomorrow is going to be a pain.

I’m kinda scared this will turn into a Victoria scenario if we don’t get our butts into gear. Just yesterday the Premier had re-iterated that we were us 10 months without a community case, which now has aged horribly.

The amount of places the person was in is quite alarming and we sure will get a community case out of it, i really feel for that poor soul who will be that person.

I hope everyone in south-west WA has something to cope with, because this will be real hard. from everything after 8 or 9 months to nothing, it’ll be a long week.

People have short memories, considering QLD and SA have completed near identical lockdowns.

She probably got her Journalism Degree from Hicksville University or a cereal box

Also as I said about the Brisbane Lockdown, plenty of copies of the West Australian in which she is a journalist for available to use as Toilet Paper and a lot more pages since it’s a Sunday.

As of 9pm tonight, Victoria has declared Perth, Peel and South West WA Regions a ‘Red Zone’. The remaining parts of WA will remain Green.
