COVID-19: Perth Lockdown

Yeah but in both instances, the lockdown was used by premiers to install communist dictatorships that were merely puppets of the Victorian Andrews Government. Read it up sheeple, it’s on Pete Evan’s Parler account and the NSW Young LNP Facebook page! I even heard these lockdowns are sponsored by Kleenex.

I realise this is satire, but fuck these days, it’s hard to tell the difference.

Yeah I couldn’t work out what the point of the post… it’s not really humor though. Too early to joke about Covid 19.

NSW Health direction regarding Perth COVID-19 case. Arrivals from WA since January 25 will face the same restrictions as they would have faced in WA.-andrew rickert twitter

Agree with this. I do have an issue with states going into lockdowns over single cases though as it really proves that WA have zero confidence in their own contact tracing. Victoria really showed how to control an outbreak over Christmas and New Years without needing lockdowns. I assume that WA have just been in complete complacency for months now, testing numbers are not adequate and this might at least be a bit of a wake up call that we are still in a global pandemic.

I also find it interesting that only a matter of weeks ago Mark McGowan was trying to lecture NSW Govt on what to do to prevent cases getting from Hotel Quarantine into the community and then this happens. It absolutely astounds me that other states haven’t learnt or taken on board the measures that were put in place as a result of what happened in Vic and came out of the Inquiry. I also thought that National Cabinet had agreed only a few weeks ago to test every hotel worker daily??

There it is again, I really do not understand this line of criticism that so many people have for premiers (except for Gladys of course).

Even with the worlds best contact tracers, no strategy should be solely reliant on one measure, premiers should be doing a multi pronged approach to tackling an outbreak, the stakes are too high.

They had, but with the size of the hotel quarantine operation it’s not something that can just get implemented overnight. It had commenced in WA last week.

Premier confirms no further local cases of COVID

13 close contacts of the hotel worker have tested negative to COVID. 66 close contacts identified, have either been tested or will be today.

A G2G pass system restricting regional travel is expected to be in place later today. FIFO workers won’t be allowed to leave the Perth, Peel or South West regions to head to mine sites, with limited exemptions for critical, specialist workersA WA Police investigation is being launched into how the quarantine security guard tested positive. “It is not a criminal investigation but we must know what went on”.=jacob kagi twitter

2 separate Health and Police reviews will be carried out into how the hotel quarantine security guard became infected=natalie forrest twitter

According to what Mark McGowan said today:

  • No new cases locally or overseas.
  • testing clinics to remain open until 10pm throughout the week.
  • SOme Coles and Woolworths stores to open at 7am
  • Marks are largely available
  • Residents of the affected areas are not allowed to leave the region unless for an essential reason - they need to provide evidence at checkpoints
  • Residents can allow to exercise for up to 5km.

Officials have confirmed the infected man does have the UK strain of the virus. But they’re still trying to determine how the man contracted it.Jacob Kagi twitter

so how are my fellow perth members taking the first day of lockdown?

Is that really a good enough excuse? Why does national cabinet need to tell them to start testing workers daily. It should have been basic common sense from the start, especially after the Victorian outbreak, that was 6 months ago.

A popup testing clinic can be setup to process thousands of tests in a matter of hours, even in regional areas. Why would it take so long to setup testing regime in the most important and vulnerable setting in the inner city.

I see where you are coming from. But I agree with Chris. Lockdowns can’t be used every time there is a single case. Lockdowns should be used temporarily to give time to assist health services. It was reported the 3 day lockdown in SA would have costed the economy 10 million dollars. The issue I have with both the Perth and brisbane lockdown is these cases aren’t unknown. They are linked to the hotel quarantine system.

Loving the 1 on 1 bus driver service going to/coming from work.

The city is a ghost town which is fantastic to see. The only cars on the road I’ve seen have the rideshare stickers on them

I hope they’ve put something good on Tele or it’ll be a boring week ahead for some.

Hope everyone else is doing great.

The cynic in me wonders if the states are doing these lockdowns to get the hotel quarantine away from the cities and into remote locations. Seems they are trying to force the prime ministers hand.

In which the PM will probably just say that the vaccine will just be around the corner for Hotel Quarantine workers so no need to change policy.

He seemed pretty intrigued by Anastasias idea of using mining sites
