There have been complaints about that happening; I think it was 9NBN (or maybe Prime7?) Gold Coast showed programming as scheduled for AEDT, so M or MA programming was shown before the allowed AEST time in Qld.
The networks don’t want to extend even by 30 mn for SA, let alone by an hour for Qld, or even longer for NT (1.5 h) and WA (3 h), to have their morning shows (or re-do national news bulletins) be live in those behind-the-time states.
It costs money, the presenters and crew have to work for hours longer, and for what’s generally of minimal if any benefit to the company.
Even cut-aways from delayed to live feeds create a difficult-to-handle mess; when do they cut back to the recording? And then later on it may repeat when the recording gets to that point again, so they’d have to cut it out.
It’s not always quickly and easily sorted, usually it’s just not worth the effort.
If Queenslanders don’t like seeing old news, they should’ve voted for Daylight Savings, or do so next time.
there should be bigger priorities than daylight savings. You either stick it for all year round or not at all. It may be beneficiary in winter but will the sun be rising earlier or later for winter?
They don’t need to exceed the show just add a filler program after the live programming for Queensland. News programs should be live and people should not use the excuse “just have daylight savings or grin and bare with it”. Queensland will probably always not have daylight saving for various reasons. They should take all news programs live in particular during a global pandemic. There is no excuse other than Nine due to their current situation. But usually no there is no excuse. Whether have taken national news programs for years on delay is irrelevant they should not be during a pandemic fullstop.
The media conference this morning regarding new COVID cases overnight in Queensland was only broadcast live on ABC.
It’s a shame that the commercial stations that are constantly promoting their news prowess don’t actually live up to all the hype. Especially considering that 3 days ago there was a lockdown that a bad result today could have potentially seen that again as an option.
Mark McGowan press conference Live on Seven, Nine, 10, ABC and SBS.
Nine Perth broke programming at 2:37PM (Perth time) with Michael Thomson presenting.
Possibly because there had been leaks throughout the day. Journalists were tweeting before the conference that they’d been given masks (indicating something major was changing), it was common knowledge that there had been a breach and in situations like that speculation in the public would be very high.
I agree it probably wasn’t the absolute best choice of words but I don’t think it’s an issue either.
