Thank god I live in Richmond, the coffee and food choices are glorious around here… the only thing making lockdown life half bareable.
I actually can’t believe the number of people doorknocked who weren’t home - this isn’t people that were directed to isolate, this is worse yet, people who have tested positive - I don’t get outraged by much but honest fucking hell… shit ain’t going to get better for anyone with pricks doing this shit.
When I went to Melbourne a couple years ago I visited Richmond they do indeed have delicious coffee .
Sounds like the moron that went outside of his local needs his head and eyes checked. What part of stay home and not travel to far away suburbs for a coffee does this guy not get
I wonder if the masks will be excluded for Gyms in regional Vic. Putting it back on during rest for periods at the gym won’t work that’s the time I use to catch my breath back!
See I actually disagree, and it’s not my bias of wanting the gym open. But my gym in Melbourne felt properly safe. You had to book to use any part of the gym, they had people cleaning equipment in between people using it, there were sanitising wipes everywhere for people to wipe down equipment and everyone was complying with the rules, group fitness classes had dots on the floor to maintain proper distance and it was enforced by instructors… arguably felt safer there 3 weeks ago than I do going to get my daily coffee from the cafe around the corner from my house…
Agreed. I found my local gym in Melbourne to be incredibly safe. Everybody was following all distancing rules and everything looked to be incredibly clean.
Ironically enough, my housemate today returned a positive result for COVID so I’m now in quarantine for 14 days. He’s assumed to have caught it when he was forced to go into work for a 1 day meeting…
Have there been any cases of transmission in Gyms in Aus? I know that someone who was linked to a case in NSW went to a gym which forced it closed… but I don’t think there was any transmission.
I echo the above that Gyms are probably one of the cleanest and safest environments. For the 2.5 weeks that they were back open in Melb I did F45 and my local gym. At F45 the ground had squares taped down and you picked a square and stayed in that square the entire class. You only ever used the same equipment that only you touched so it was a very safe environment. Extensive cleaning then happened between classes. My local gym also had a 20 person limit and you had to carry a spray bottle and wipes with you to wipe everything as you go. They even had crosses taped on the ground throughout to be sure people stand distanced. Not once was anything not socially distant or cleaned before I used it. It felt like a 10x safer/cleaner environment than the supermarket or public transport.
The environments where most transmissions are occurring are certain types of workplaces and in homes.
There have been a number of gyms closed for cleaning.
Not all cases can be directly linked to a place where it spread. The one person I know who has it, only visited a petrol station near the hotel and gym cluster. They have not been able to make a direct link to any other case or place though.
How do they confront this industry spread? They can close down specific industries but the problem will still persist at others and the roots will continue to grow. Seems to be many seeds have been planted now.
Melbourne metro needs to go supers, Servo’s and medical for a fortnight. I think this is imminent now.
A stage 4 lockdown will cause significant delays to construction projects like this, and also level crossing removal works (the Upfield line was only closed to trains earlier this week) and West Gate Tunnel works. The compensation claims against the Victorian Government will be enormous and I doubt it can afford to pay.
Is it spreading through the industry or is it just one site that this has occurred? You would think that masks would have an impact in these environments, which would yet to be seen in the numbers. Although I’ve seen a couple tradies in my area walking off sites without masks on.
Johnson TV do you even get how bad this is ! Where have u been? Seriously your posts are all about protecting industries and projects but with infection growing do you honestly believe that it is the most important thing right now?
I have family and friends in Melbourne and in regional Victoria (Portland) and I’m hell Worried. Excuse me I don’t giving a flying tit about the building industry atm. There won’t be much of any industry left if people in Victoria don’t do the right thing stay home and quarantine when and if they have Covid-19. People are not following the rules and more people are being infected and possibly will die.
The last thing Melbourne needs is a stage 4 lockdown. Logistically it is impossible to control the movement of 5 million people. I still think targeted lockdowns is the answer.
