VICās numbers for today -
So the Brisbane Airport breach, passengers were positive.
We are skating on wafer thin ice at the moment. Largely due incompetence.
Agree. We know that most waste water detections are previous quarantine cases back home shedding dead virus but that doesnāt mean we should just disregard them either. With so many positive cases in Hotel Quarantine at the moment Australia wide we need to take extra caution - so if the Govt are encouraging people in certain groups or areas to test then it shouldnāt just be disregarded. The next couple of weeks are going to be probably the biggest test to date of the Hotel Quarantine system for all states with the number of active cases in there at the moment.
Masks are still mandated in airports yeah? If that is the case hopefully it means there is a much lower risk that it has been passed on.
One passenger was positive and one negative and reported that both had masks. Serological testing to determine if the positive test is historical (previous infections).
Useless government in action yet again. I suspected that he was actually bluffing about Qatar, Singapore and Malaysia shutting down their flights to India as I saw there was still a number of flights going to and from India and those places. So in other words, the ban was only for direct flights which only go to Sydney and everyone else can just come and go to other cities through other routes.
And hereās another one whoās in denial of the need to address quarantine issues.
Seriously a potato has more substance than what this joke of a guy is going on about, and thatās being generous.
I just wonder if there is any point in developing a quarantine hub for September when by that date a fair chunk of the population will be vaccinated. Itās a case, again, of too little too late from the victorian government.
Thatās a bit harsh!
Got to give credit where credits due. Damn if you do and damn if you donāt.
Have we seen any other state/territory try to develop a Quarantine hub - besides NT? At least VIC are trying to do something new. You donāt see the Feds or any other state/territory do this. Considering Quarantine is a Federal Government responsibility.
Who knows this Quarantine hub may be used for future pandemics.
An investment of this scale suggests that the Victorians are expecting to need quarantine facilities for the foreseeable future
Queensland have introduced a new rule where anyone entering Queensland must go through 14 days of quarantine in government arranged accommodation upon entry to the state, if theyāve been to an exposure site.
Bit ridiculous IMO.
There are a few states that are really trying to one-up each other on making stupid decisions
Why didnāt they develop this after they stuffed up hotel quarantine last time? Or even 4 months ago after the snap lockdown? I just find the Victorian government can be slow to make decisions like this. Perhaps this quarantine hub isnāt even for covid related things and maybe itās future planning for other projects. Who knows. Just seems to me a bit late if it is simply covid related.
The NT didnāt really have a choice in the matter, Howard Springs is 100% under federal control filled with passengers from chartered Qantas repatriation flights that are requested / subsidised by the federal government.
Section 51 subsection IX of the Australian constitution says hello.
That said, yesterdayās announcement by Merlino is useless without a bipartisan approach with the Commonwealth. What a waste of time, money and hope.
I donāt read the Australian even if it is saying hello to me Newscorp make me sick
Yeah cool, me neither although thereās a couple of decent writers still there.
Try the constitution some time, much more enlightening.
I have been made aware of that section but Iām not really sure why itās saying hello to me after my comments about Victoria doing something a little too late. Unless I am missing something?
Easy to happen considering Cook Islanders, as a dependency of NZ hold New Zealand passportsā¦
