COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

The lack of commitment for first doses by the end of the year tells you the real expectations they have in relation to supply of the Pfizer vaccine.

This is going to reflect more and more poorly on the federal government if come a few months time the US and UK are allowing unrestrictive overseas travel to those who have received the vaccine.

Let’s hope so. They’ve been a disaster. Catastrophic handling of this vaccine process.

Yet the NSW premier kept criticising other states for restricting border travel.

This is partly already known - but here’s an updated article on this topic:

Also, a bit more of an explanation into all this vaccine choosing:

Media release
12 April 2021

Victoria has been notified of 0 locally acquired and 2 overseas acquired cases since yesterday. Both cases are flight passengers in hotel quarantine.

This is the 45th day in a row that Victoria has recorded no locally acquired cases.

The total number of confirmed cases in Victoria since the beginning of the pandemic is 20,487.

Timing is critical here - the modelling that the article refers to was ā€œearly doorsā€ and was a key driver in why we went into lockdown. NSW have adjusted their approach since based on the best available information and on their willingness on risk

The UK really seems to have turned it around. 7 day average is just over 2,000 cases a day.

Apparently now Scott Morrison is issuing official government communications about vaccines on Facebook. Like he also snuck out a late night Facebook post to somehow apologise for his outburst accusing a Sky News employee of having an HR complaint… which they didn’t.

This is the guy who literally told us all very bluntly not to rely on Facebook for information about the vaccine.

A lot of us don’t use Facebook, so why must we have to rely on connecting to Facebook to see public government messaging. He hasn’t shared it on Twitter, or on his official website, or australia.gov.au

Is this some way to escape scrutiny, by hiding on Facebook? Which in turn denies much of the population – his constituents – to get health safety messaging like this. Not that I’d know what it is?!

FFS this government. Devious bunch they are.

Good result, but I’m hoping they can bring it down further before they open up.

I’d hazard a guess that this is because they fucked up by having an ā€œurgentā€ press conference last week that could have literally been a 4 line statement. He doubles down on the really stupid decisions

I wouldnt be surprised if the Government walk back this one in coming weeks when the dust settles - easier to walk something back that can be spun as ā€œnot made through official channelsā€

Scott Morrison is a national disgrace.

If this isn’t the straw that breaks the camel’s back fo the LNP, we are a country filled with idiots.

Next election, they need to go. This has been handled poorly. They’ve had an opportunity to get things back to a more advanced form of normality relatively quickly and they’ve fucked it.
