A lockdown is basically what we are in now anyway. We shouldnât be leaving the house as it is. Having a complete lockdown just gives authorities more power to ask why you have left your house.
ok then how about for people who dont ever go down to melbourne??? why should we get punished then ??? why should the people get who are doing the right then get punished for it ???
Youâre not being punished. Youâre going into lockdown for your own safety and the safety of others. So you donât get it but if you do, so you donât spread it.
Are you for real? No one is being punished.
yes but those who are doing the right things going into self isolation and going out to get the essentials like my self then there the othes who clearly dont give a rats . why should we have to pay for other people stupid idiotic mistakes
If you truly are doing the right thing by staying at home and only going out and getting essentials, then you wonât have anything to worry about. Nothing will change for you if you are going out to get essentials.
You will still be able to do that with a lockdown.
ok sorry for my little rant there . im just got a little frastrated that all
We are supposed to be locking ourselves away now⌠If there is a lockdown you will still be able to leave for essentials. It is not a punishment.
Exactly. They donât have to shut down now. Itâs not irresponsible because itâs keeping people in jobs. Plus with limited retailers open, they might actually pick up some extra traffic.
Agree again. I see so many people posting how âirresponsibleâ people have supposedly been because of some dramatised shots of beaches that werenât even that packed. Iâve noticed particularly today in Melbourne everything is much quieter. Shopping centre dead. Coles was quiet. The park was much quieter too. On my drive the roads were dead. It legit felt like AFL Grand Final afternoon which in Melbourne most things close and shops/roads go quiet. For a sunny 28 degree day it really did feel like people have got the message.
Stop saying punished. Itâs prevention. We should all expect that itâs coming. The supermarket will always be open.
If they are scaling up to stage 3 though⌠then Iâd like to see some community transmission stats. They keep saying most cases in VIC are from overseas. I know itâs prevention but if overseas returnees are going into quarantine then that should solve a big part of it. Maybe a 2 or 3 week lockdown could nip this whole thing in the butt if transmission rates are low. Who knows.
In my mind Iâm happy to sacrifice April if there is a chance that things can start getting better afterwards. Letâs hope!
And you will still be able to go out in the morning & get some exercise.
No its not a punishment but our PM makes it sound like it is when he says âbecause Australianâs didnât listen we need to do thisâ. So I can see why some get confused.
when i went out today my other half had to get his new glasses picked up before specsavers closed for 4weeks at this stage stockland village here in wendouree was very quiet most stores were closed down for the day and whilest otheres closed down due to the convid-19 and this was at around 2 or 3pm
Using the word punishment isnât as far fetched as people are making it. Currently the fast food places for instance are open and doing deliveries, during a lockdown, theyâre gone for several weeks. Sure Maccaâs or a bit of dirty bird isnât everyoneâs cup of tea but there are some who like it or have it as their weekly tradition and at the moment where everything is getting screwed up for everyone taking away that sort of stuff from people and taking their comfort food and making them go cold turkey is going to upset people and yes they are people who have locked themselves away for the most part and minimised their visits and certainly not been down on the beaches, so they are effectively going to be punished.
Also, today, we had a young child who wouldnât go to sleep, desperately needed a nap but wouldnât go to sleep. Are parents allowed to drive around for kids to sleep? Many parents do this when nothing else works, they donât go anywhere but they just drive. Is that an essential thing that can be done if not going anywhere?
I know theyâre only little things but they are completely plausible things under a lockdown - the rules are very simple as they are with things locked down currently but because people are refusing them then we are going to have to get tougher and yes that does sound like punishment, let alone the anxiety and nightmares for kids too young to fully comprehend whatâs happening but having police tell you to go home whenever youâre outside.
Or effectively they are preventing themselves from contracting a virus⌠I would call that the opposite of a punishment.
Look Iâm not sure the rules on car travel at the moment but I think that is ok to do at the moment. However, we shouldnât feel so entitled. Itâs not exactly something we need to do to get kids to sleep. Work out another way.
I understand what youâre saying but you canât blame people for feeling really shitty and down, in the space of about 3 weeks many have lost their jobs, incomes, social gatherings, church gatherings if they have those (for many people, that is their family) and so many freedoms and then weâre about to take away the last few things that they feel like they can control. There are going to be significant mental health issues from the lockdowns, many people are loving it and are feeling comfortable but so many are out of their comfort zone and canât feel cooped up for so long and then thanks to other idiots not being able to count or follow directions it feels like theyâre having fun and then everyone gets a detention for it.
Just imagine if we suddenly said âok, no more coffee or cigarettes or alcohol for 4 weeksâ, that would cause quite a deal of outrage from people, you might not be into the pizzas or a Whopper but there are people who are and like it as part of their routine and many have already implemented deliveries and zero contact delivery etcâŚ
i know where your coming from .my self suffer mental illeness . i have socal anxiety and anxitey in general. this why i had my rant before. i fear for people like my self and others. i like going out and getting my haircut . i dont like it when my hair gets long and i cant get comb it right . and yes as silly as it sounds i do get anxious about it . i mean now that i have been laid off my volenterring job i fear that my mental illness might get worse
Due to COVID-19 the wedding of Raymond Morris Hadley to his personal assistant Sophie Baird has been postponed from 27 June to 19 September. It will be held at Saddles restaurant, Mount White, which is owned by Hadleyâs former boss John Singleton. It will be Hadleyâs third wedding.

What many people also donât understand is actually how far 1.5 metres really is. Pictures as we know are compressed images that make things look closer than they actually appear. Unless they were actually there at the beach themselves (and the same goes for Bondi, even though the numbers there seemed to be a lot larger in an area known to be a hotspot) how can they know if the regulations werenât adhered to?
This is the one thing that actually gets me p155ed off, the fact that so many people are assuming things will happen because someone halfway around the world with as much knowledge of this as anyone (which in reality isnât too much because of the novel nature of this) or people who have reacted to events overseas without considering why things are inflated or otherwise. Making the assumption that things will happen more often than not is what gets us into trouble, and we donât know how to react if things donât happen as we assume will. The same does apply in reverse obviously, so to think that Trumpâs assumptions are accurate are as false as someone who assumes worst case scenarios will always happen.
Not one to be a conspiracy theorist or anything like that, but Iâve been starting to think this is a front (not a fake, too many worldwide deaths for it to be fake) for something much bigger, hence the long term outlooks on things. It wonât be the virus that will be the big problem in 6 months, or for that matter the economy. I smell World War 3 coming, and the Chinese are the ones looking for world domination. Perhaps Iâve asked one of our contractors too much about this (he thinks the best thing to avoid WWIII is if TRUMP gets re-elected, not Biden), but thereâs something more to the story given that the optimist in me suggests the threat will be controlled (not finished) by the end of next month.
I can see why this is a thought process, after all state governments tend to release the bulk of their policies for metropolitan areas and the only regions that get looked after are those within reasonably close access or if they need a football stadium. Plus the bulk of the figures are located within capital city areas (or in Queensland, basically everywhere south of Maryborough. Close to 93% of cases are located in the South of the state, with 88% of those cases as opposed to 82% of the statewide tally based in either Brisbane, the Gold Coast or the Sunshine Coast, all within a 90 minute radius). I guess the whole thing comes down to simplification, I mean itâs harder to have one rule for one part of a state and another for somewhere else, even if it would be ideal to lock down capital cities (which IMO as someone in a regional centre whose area has a total of 5 cases, would make most sense). If they make things complex, then it causes the confusion and even angst amongst those who feel itâs unjust for one area to be locked down when another isnât.
They probably were always going to be able to work from home provided they had the right tools, regardless of whether a lock down was happening. Itâs probably taken that long to meet the demands of what was required to enable home working.
There are a few loons who are using Facebook videos to promote this (and to sell useless stuff/digital currency) as martial law. Perhaps they were right???
Tell that to my friends in South Africa, who canât even take dogs out for a walk during the next 21 days, let alone get exercise.
No some are still waiting on software and approval but have taken their computers and told not to go into work on Monday.
