US AT BREAKING POINT: Grim warning as virus overwhelms hospitals:
As much as I hate to say this, should all states of the U.S. adopt an extremely harsh four to six week lockdown to try and eliminate the virus as much as possible?
I say that I hate to suggest this as this means Americans wonāt get to spend Christmas with their families, and hopefully not getting to spend the day with loved ones will get the message through to them that they need to take this threat more seriously and not let the virus run rampant.
UK began distribution of COVID-19 vaccine today.
4-6 weeks wonāt do anything for them at this stage. Look at how long Melbourne was in lockdown for and we had at the peak 8,000 active cases. The US have 6 million⦠it might help turn. The curve around slightly but honesty wonāt do much. Look to the UK for proof 4 week lockdown and still recording 15,000 + cases a dayā¦
It would do more for them that not doing anything at all.
40 days.
Still a pretty impressive testing number considering the state is effectively clear.
Iām liking the new daily report card from Victoria.
The number of tests jumped by nearly 8,000 from Tuesday.
Vacine news
It came after two NHS workers had allergic reactions on Tuesday.
The two people had a reaction shortly after having the new jab, had treatment and are both fine now.
41 consecutive days of no new cases for Victoria.
Letās enjoy it while it lasts⦠Iām expecting the first overseas case to arrive soon.
we can still enjoy having 0 local cases as it will be cases acquired overseas
We shouldnāt be worried about cases in quarantine. Itās a certainty that having travellers come back will lead to quarantine cases, like every other state.
Exactly. Iām not sure why the doom and gloom especially on twitter around cases in returned travellers. It is a given and expected, every state in the country has been recording hotel quarantine cases - with the virus surging everywhere around the world there will be even more positives.
Even all the headlines yesterday spreading fear / making a big deal about Tasmania recording itās first cases in months (which were all in quarantine) were ridiculous. Every state taking on travellers knows there will be cases in quarantine. Thatās why we have it.
