Apparently Victoria are worried about the sewage water in Colac with the fragments suggesting there could be an active case in that area.

which iam guessing we will know in the next few days or so. so far all the waste water fragments after people getting testing have shown either been shedding or someone has been in the areas out of town

From the ABC blog it seems they are a little more worried about this one. I know sewage picks up on people who have had covid but they are saying this is an active case. So perhaps it is someone who has recovered and become active again - I know we have seen this happen before.

Victoria’s Commander of Testing and Community Engagement Jeroen Weimar is having a press conference and has spoken about the wastewater fragments found in Colac
he said ''there has been some excellent detective work by our colleagues at Barwon health in the last 24 hrs and we have identified someone who has moved back into the area who may still be shedding the virus we believe they may be the cause of the recent detections we have seen but never the less what wase water tell us weather there traces of the virus lingering in the community and that we are alert to the symptoms "

The person identified was an old case but they know they had a significant tail of shredding from other medical work they have done with this person and they know they have moved back into the area and they are likely to be source of the postive that they saw last night. He has been on there radar for a while and are comfertable with their health status
Jeron is confident that the indiveriual they have id is likety to be sagnifiecant source of that information of that material

That is good detective work.

jeroen also is said so far waste water testing hasnt id a postive case. only so far shredding

Interesting. It contradicts what Dan Andrews said:

“Now we have detected what some strong positives in the Colac area, these could often be shedding but when the test results are in that higher band it can mean that there is an active case.”

this isnt the first time dan has been contradicted about something . even the health minsiter. when they both said that victoria hasnt fully elminated covid-19 that there be cases in the commuinty bubbling away . when in fact epidimolgists have said that 28 days of no new cases is in fact emilimation. and there wouldnt be many if any cases at all

yes there was some strong postives in the area . that could have been an consintration of water activity that the team has been samperling which is why jeron said he was confident the person they id is likely to be sagnificant sourse of the info of that material they also had done a number of readings in the colac area in the last few days . they have seen some traces move in and out

The US had their highest daily death toll since April on Tuesday with 2611 dead, not far off their worst day ever.

They also had their highest number of cases for any Tuesday of the pandemic, 182k cases, The US is now recording more cases per day than all of europe.

Not long now ladies and gentlemen.

Shouldn’t we be waiting until a vaccine is approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration here in Australia before getting excited?

Do you have to be such a downer?

Can’t we celebrate the positives and achievements rather than focus on the negatives?

This is major, global, HAPPY, news.

Well it’s notable as the timeframes here have all been talking March for even the earliest of the early deployments here.

Ideally we’d be vaccinating all the Hotel Quarantine staff as soon as we possibly can to minimise that as a vector.

Damn it, just when the border is opened to Victorians …

Lucky Melbourne though.
