That is much better than yesterday. Hopefully they are on top of this. But yesterday they were calling out for more testing and that number hasn’t gone up on yesterday.

Fingers crossed they are. The last thing we need is more new cases in NSW (or anywhere in Australia).

France has declared a public health state of emergency for the second time in response to a surge in COVID-19 cases. It will impose a 9pm to 6am curfew in Paris and eight other major cities, something millions of Melburnians had endured for more than two months.

381,000 new cases worldwide yesterday, a new record.

European wave is still surging; UK, Russia, Czechia, Poland, Romania, Switzerland, Portugal, Austria, Moldova, Slovenia, North Macedonia, Armenia, Georgia and Albania all set a new record for daily new cases.
Italy recorded numbers higher than the peak of their first wave for the first time and Germany and Ireland set 2nd wave records.

USA also in trouble, 60,000 cases on a Wednesday, there is usually a ~25% increase by friday from here, so they could also come close to breaking their record as well. the states increasing the most are along the northern border with Canada.

When you see numbers like this in Europe it gives you perspective on why Victoria want to get as low as they can possibly go. We are on the cusp of being able to squash the worst of this whilst Europe, UK and the USA have a very long winter ahead…

Unfortunately all clustered in the south west. These people are more inclined not follow instructions. Says it all really.

I think the language barrier there is a big issue too… South Western Sydney has a large population where English is a second language to many, if at all.

Do they not have internet in Queensland?

It’s a virtual meeting, why would he possibly need to go to Sydney. Can only think it’s because he expects something to happen with Gladys…

Doesn’t look good. Seems like he’s avoiding the meeting. But all honestly, what good is going to come out of tomorrows meeting? All the states are doing their own thing at the moment.

Probably waiting for the next Premier of NSW to be announced.

Measures under Tier 3 - a very high alert level - include pub closures and a ban on household mixing indoors, in private gardens and in most outdoor venues.

Mr Burnham (Labour) said they would amount to a “punishing lockdown” without “proper support” for the people and businesses affected.

Ministers “are asking us to gamble our residents’ jobs, homes and businesses and a large chunk of our economy on a strategy that their own experts tell them might not work,” he told a press briefing.

“Greater Manchester, the Liverpool City Region and Lancashire are being set up as the canaries in the coal mine for an experimental regional lockdown strategy as an attempt to prevent the expense of what is truly needed.”
