Again, I didnt say we should become complacent.
I didnāt say you did.
Thatās possible though due to the small number of daily cases NSW have had. When you have the high number of cases Victoriaās been having, itās near impossible to do contact tracing.
It is when it completely disregards what happened with the Ruby Princess cruise ship
Victoria at the moment is about a million times worse than the Ruby Princess was. Theres no comparison.
Agree. However, the NSW Government made a major mistake when it came to that
Sure.
Are we really having a my dick is bigger than yours on the way NSW and Vic are handling the pandemic?
I agree. But I donāt think this is the time to say my government has done better than yours. All governments have made mistakes and will continue to. Itās something no one has ever had to deal with. Itās about how they learn from those mistakes.
There are things Victoria need to look at and see how other states are handling things. There is no doubt NSW has done a much better job with the contact tracing. Itās a time where states need to work together, rather than apart. A great example of working together is how SA has deployed Health Care workers to Victoria.
Agree completely with everything you said. Iām not wanting to have a ādick-measuringā contest between states - all I did was respond to TFTVās assertion and highlighted the circumstances behind how NSW has been able to stay on top of the contact tracing
I canāt believe there are members on here trying to make this a state vs state thing, or trying to politicise this into a left vs right wing discussion. Really bloody poor form from a few here.
Yes, but a lot of members also donāt need to take every comment on here as a personal attack.
iām not very optimistic, I think the same thing is happening now that happened in April when numbers stablised. In April numbers in Europe and New York started to decline at the same time the rest of the americas took off, so the worldwide curve was flat, but then shot up.
Its happening now; the tally leaders from the last few months (USA, Brazil, Iran, Mexico, South Africa, Russia) are all stabilising but there are countries that have been well-performing until now that are taking off fast; (Greece, Costa Rica, Romania, Phillipines, Morocco, Japan, Poland)
Argentina, Indonesia, Ukraine are all steadily increasing and western Europe looks like it is starting a second wave sparked in Spain and the Netherlands.
Yes, our Victorian friends have every right to feel attacked. Theyāre struggling and donāt need pettiness with state v state.
Nope. Victorians can say well away. When was the last time they did anything for WA?? We donāt need them.
Why does Daniel Andrews always seem to wear the same āThe North Faceā jacket during COVID press conferences? (apart from seemingly being a favourite of his).
Youād think government employees / politicians should be wearing unbranded clothing during such events just to be clear that there is no potential conflict of interest with any aspect of any policy.
Things are starting to get a little heated and thats the last thing we want at the moment - the thread will open again in the morning

This is fantastic news. There were 41,000 tests on Saturday and I know of at least 2 people who tested that day and got their results yesterday. So most results of increased testing would be included and we have much lower numbers. It shows that stage 3 and introducing masks has had an impact in driving the numbers down. Now during the week we might start seeing impacts of the other changes.
Sad to hear about the death toll though but this is going to increase or stay at these numbers for some time to come even as daily cases drop.
