Good that the numbers have gone down again. But 19 deaths is awful.
This is a terrible & ignorant attitude to be taking. It reminds me of the demands of some in WA to keep a greater share of the GST revenue during their mining boom ignoring the fact that prior to that boom WA was getting more money from other parts of the country which were doing better.
(And to make it clear, Iâm not singling out WA, similar demands have come from other parts of the country, ignoring times when the situation was reversed.)
The nation and federal system isnât perfect, but itâs foolish to think any part of the country doesnât get anything from the rest of the country.
I hope we can keep things civil (not just here but elsewhere too).
Clothes are clothes.
Plus itâs the weekend. He usually wears that jacket on the weekend if there arenât any big announcements to make.
The Victorian Government will start airing TAC style COVID-19 television commercials. Hopefully the message will now get through to the ones who continue to disobey the rules.
They aired two as an example in Andrewsâ press conference today.
The breakdown from this morningâs numbers:

Meanwhile, NSW has recorded 14 new cases.
A new problem has emerged with NSWâs hard closure of its border with Victoria, with close to 100 ACT residents trapped in Victoria, unable to return home by road.
Have they not been doing that? There was ads in South Australia back in April during the first lockdown and still are airing ads.
Mr Barr said a formal proposal had been to presented to the NSW government early on Sunday morning, which would see ACT police sent to the border to help escort car loads of Canberrans back to the national capital.
NSW was still weighing up the plan as of 11am on Monday morning, Mr Barr said.
I donât see why this shouldnât be accepted. Policing in the ACT is done by the Australian Federal Police, so Iâd imagine theyâd have (at least) some authority while in NSW to be able to enforce the no-stops objective the NSW government has said they want.
Iâd still like to know why the NSW government suddenly changed their rules, refusing to honour the permits the âstrandedâ people had obtained following the rules.
State & territory governments are right to restrict border crossings to stop the spread of COVID-19, but refusing to allow people to return home (including Queenslanders being turned away at the border to their home state) seems over the top. Surely quarantine can be imposed in their home state. People shouldnât ever be refused entry to their home state (or country for that matter).
It seems unreasonable to expect medical workers who were working in north east Victoria (so who werenât even in the locked-down Melbourne area) to have to drive to Melbourne airport, leave their vehicle there for who knows how long, fly to Sydney, then perhaps be quarantined there for weeks, then to fly to Canberra.
HIGHEST IN THE WORLD: US passes jaw-dropping coronavirus milestone:
Nothing shocks me about the US anymore.
Another 19 deaths in Victoria in the past 24 hours.
331 new cases is pretty much on par with yesterday and solidifies the slow downward trend since mid last week. We wonât start seeing the impacts Stage 4 yet in the numbers for a couple more days so I wonder if masks made an impact or if there has been a drop in aged care cases with the Governmentâs interventions. Or maybe it just took a bit more time for the numbers to stabilise and start dropping.
Sad to hear that the daily death toll is close to 20. I donât imagine this will change for quite some time sadly.
I think it will drop soon (next week) in line with how the new cases have fallen from 700 a day to 300 a day.
NT Chief Minister Michael Gunner said on the ABC this morning that hard border controls would be in place in the territory for at least the next 18 months. Not good for the tourism industry.
That is not going to be sustainable. I think the views will change if Victoria get this under control in the next month.
Thatâs ambitious.
22 new cases in NSW.
Iâve noticed the Queensland government are buying advertising targeting NSW telling everyone to F off and stay away.
Interesting to hear the âAuthorised by the Queensland Governmentâ tagline on Sydney radioâŚ
Iâm surprised that theyâre putting timeframes on this stuff - we simply dont know how long it will be and will depend on a lot of things happening (or not happening). That said, people want to know how long it will be and there is only so much âwe dont knowâ that theyâll accept (however realistic the ability to provide a timeline is)
In Gunnerâs case I think its important to note that the NT go to an election soon and I cant imagine that the NT is as well equipped for a major breakout of the virus as other states/territories
