More importantly, what are the circumstances that see a week-old case be todayās news
Florida recorded over 15,000 cases yesterday, smashing the record of any state.
India has recorded more daily cases than brazil for the first time since their major outbreaks. Brazil, and much of south america seems to be stabling, while india and other asian countries like Iraq, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan are all increasing fast.

Very similar to how Melbourne started off.
The problem is peoples mentality of the virus has faded and gone away. āIts just a world thingā or 'Its only happening in Melbourne". This thing moves fast and even more so with the economy now open in Sydney. Lets hope they put out these spot fires.
Hopefully the government here can respond quickly enough so there isnāt a mass 6 week lockdown. Maybe they should try hardening some of the requirements. Such as 20-50 people limits back in venues. Not ideal but god help us returning to the Melbourne style lockdown.
Yep⦠its pretty bad down here.
Daniel Andrews started re-imposing restriction on the second day of double digit case numbers, seems NSW is not far off that.
If I was Anastasia Palaszczuk, Iād probably start thinking about re-closing the border to New South Wales and infact, wouldnāt be overly surprised if this happens within the week.
One of the things that I would implement in Sydney (fast) is the reduction in the number of people at homes. Cap it back down to 5 ppl asap.
The source of infection (and clustering) is important in making any determination.
NSW is reporting some interesting results in their weekly reports around Influenza and Rhinovirus (the common cold) - https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Documents/covid-19-surveillance-report-040720.pdf
Testing for Influenza is up (and over the 5 year average) - but cases are low - its worth noting that we have entered NSWās peak influenza period
Reports today that they are trying to determine Patient Zero at Crossroads but suggest it may be impossible. That hotel is frequented by not only many patrons from the area but also truck drivers and visitors travelling between Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. It could have been someone who was asymptomatic and possibly never determined.
Yes 20 people is far too many at this point given the number of parties that have been happening.
My husband took our sons to Picton Maccas on Saturday. Iām sure there is a crossover of people who frequent there and the Picton Hotel. And they didnāt use the bottle of hand sanitiser I sent them with.
says a full state lockdown āwill be based on the caseload and a proper assessment of each and every positive [test]ā as cases outside the lockdown zones have risen from 15 to 23.The Premier said there was no plan to move the state to a stage four lockdown, but didnāt rule the plan out.
āAs I always said, if weāre planning for it, weāll share it with the community,ā Dan Andrews said on Monday.
āThatās in the hands of hard-working Victorians.
āIf you donāt want a stage four, if you donāt want the lockdown to last a moment longer, then please follow the rules.ā
Anyone got any idea what measures The Star has in place and what the social distancing is like there? This could be bad.
Hereās what they have been doingā¦
Iād reckon they, along with other Sydney establishments looking to get back in the black quickly with no regards to the rules, arenāt following the rules that closely. Thatās my guessing.
As someone who likes to go to these things of a weekend, as otherwise Iād be bored shitless to the point of offing myself due to loneliness, here is some of the things that have been rescheduled:
Supanova - Sydney and Perth rescheduled, no overseas guests. https://www.supanova.com.au/new-dates-for-supanova-2020-sydney-perth/
Oz Comic Con - Melbourne still scheduled for November, but I can see this being cancelled. All others rescheduled to 2021. https://ozcomiccon.com/
ICC Sydney - a lot of things have been postponed. https://www.iccsydney.com.au/whats-on
Sydney Showground - ditto. https://www.sydneyshowground.com.au/events/
NSW Camping Caravan Supershows (the ones at Rosehill, Newcastle, et al) - the Rosehill event has been moved to 13th to 18th of April 2021.
Sexpo - Sydney and Melbourne still listed for later in the year, Brisbane and Perth cancelled for 2020 but will return in 2021.
21 people now linked to the Crossroads Hotel cluster, as police investigate whether the hotel breached the law by not recording the details of everyone who was at the venue.
The Jindabyne hotel has been shutdown by police for 72 hours due to COVID-19 breaches.
SMH
Isnāt that because there was a targeted 10 day testing blitz in the hotspot suburbs and housing commissions? That lead to an increase in 5-10k tests per day and was more likely to find cases. 22k is still above almost any other Sunday in Victoria and is a massive amount. Also keep in mind that I believe Saturday was closer to 30k tests and a lot of those results would be in todays numbers as well. Not saying itās a good sign or anything but Iām hoping the numbers are stabilising and we are at the peak.
No the testing on a Sunday is fantastic. I didnāt meant it like that. My point was if there wasnāt as much testing then the positive cases were always going to be lower. The 180 cases today was similar in percentage to the peaks of last week. And although itās down it is only because the testing was down. Still for a Sunday it is fantastic testing numbers.
