Victoria is 56 cases away from being the state/territory with the most COVID-19 cases in Australia.

At the moment, NSW is currently the state/territory with the most cases at 3,453, while Victoria is now sitting at 3,397.

Well it’s a given that Vic will overtake NSW.

I’m surprised with the amount of people who had one last ‘hurrah’ the night before the lockdown. So much footage of restaurants and bars with people sitting close to each other on socially distanced tables. How did they not know this could be a mistake? It’s not like there was some amnesty until the lockdown started - if you were contagious once lockdown began it’s highly likely you were contagious the night before too.

This lockdown is a lot harder on everyone mentally so maybe be a little less judgemental as long as it was within the rules. Also not just assume from a photo that people weren’t following the rules. I’m sure in public settings they were.

We had a family dinner at my parents house that night because we knew we would not be seeing each other for(at least) 6 weeks. My parents are taking this one particularly hard so it was needed. There’s 6 of us so not a big gathering at all (and within the rules) and we are all very conscious of distancing etc. There are also very few cases on this side of town, so if we had been in one of those hotspot areas we may have reconsidered.

Dan Andrews needs to send the message that enforcement of the restrictions and fines are serious this time. Civic duty is not enough of a carrot to isolate now, vic needs the stick.

even with that, i’d say we are atleast 3 weeks away from the peak in Vic.

PATTON: "We had some ambos at a KFC at Dandenong, noticed 2 people ordering meals for 20 ppl, reported to police who followed up and went to the address, found 2 ppl asleep and 16 people hiding out the back. Fines for all.

This is why we can’t get on top of. Stupid people doing stupid things and just not caring.

It seems people think that from the last lockdown that things didn’t get out of control and not many people (according to them) got the virus so now they think during this lockdown they’re going to he even more lax.

It’s pretty horrific what is happening down there but also there are a lot of stupid people in society. They think the rules don’t apply to them.

Many of the news Corp readers and commenters think this is over the top again. One feels they’d like this spike to be treated as it is in the US.

The high number of COVID-19 cases in Melbourne seems to have jolted the other states.

It also means the AFL derby between West Coast and Fremantle at Optus Stadium would have maximum capacity of 30,000 rather than 60,000.

According to SMH live blog:

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard has said that the Crossroads Hotel in Casula had been directed to close after two people who both visited on Saturday tested positive.

After previously announcing that a woman in her 30s in the Liverpool area had tested positive, Mr Hazzard said today that a man in his 50s in the same area had also returned a positive test.

“What has been found is that particular lady and this 50-year-old gentleman both attended last Saturday night, independently, at a hotel. That hotel is the Crossroads Hotel at Casula.”

Brisbane airport looks very busy. Not a lot of social distancing going on at the luggage pick up.

The Crossroads Hotel case is extremely worrying. It is a well known spot for truck drivers on the Melbourne to Sydney run to stop, as it’s the last hotel on the Hume Highway before leaving the metro area. We may have interstate truck drivers coming in and spreading it around.

Sorry, I wasn’t meaning families. I understand they would want to catch up one last time before lockdown. What was meaning was people sitting at bars and restaurants, such as a group of guys all sitting shoulder to shoulder having their last beers together. If one had covid then you can be pretty sure by the end of next week they’ll all have it.
