COVID-19: Discussion of Impact 😷

Telling it like it is!

But ā€˜social distancing fatigue’ is pretty much everywhere and it’s unsurprising; people always revert to their default behaviours after they perceive the threat has passed. I am probably in the minority because my default behaviour is to avoid crowds.

Traffic held up at Queensland border checkpoints

In the last week:

Applications from people intending to visit Queensland in the next 7 days

Very easy to judge from the outside. If there were any weaknesses in procedure, you would expect them to now be tightened.

At the end of the day, the numbers need to remain minimal to allow that. If they start rising, then action has to be taken.

Nothing wrong with asking for honest opinions.

It actually makes sense because it would theoretically reduce pressure on police doing the checks and delays for those lining up to cross the checkpoint.

Why do we need restrictions nationally on paper towels and toilet paper. Just because of the actions of a few people in 3 states?

It happened in SA as well.

They are managing the supply to ensure there is enough across the country.

Seriously, there needs to be a PSA reminding people that COVID-19 does not cause people to shit themselves. Anyone caught hoarding TP should be beaten around the head.

Also, please no more fucking lockdowns in NSW. I can tell you right now - kids did not give a shit about the work we set out for them. My faculty estimated only a quarter of our students actually looked at the work and/or joined in the Adobe Connect sessions. Parents are getting shitty after reading their kids semester one report, and wondering why we gave them so much shit.

Also, having to change things up at the drop of a hat is incredibly stressful, and I think may have contributed to my Bell’s palsy. And we don’t get paid enough to change things that quick.

If you’re a parent and you are sick of home schooling, I’ll tell you now - I don’t give a flying fuck. Do the crime, do the time.

No one should be telling anyone what not to read just because they don’t like it.

That is up to the reader to determine the value of what is said including who said it.

ā€˜Confronting’ numbers in Vic due to be announced today according to some media reports.

280-odd allegedly

I was watching the Scott Morrison Press Conference and he told that the Australian International travel will be halved. Qantas has pulled almost all international flights to March 2021.

Andrews was due to speak at 1pm but has been pushed back until after Morrison finishes his.

Geez still going up. Was hopeful the effects of the initial localised lockdowns would start slowing the increase. Surely this is the peak…

DHHS has confirmed 288 new cases in Victoria overnight.

• 26 are from known outbreaks
• 262 are still under investigation

37,588 tests were completed yesterday

Andrews confirmed face masks are now recommended in Metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire - when physical distancing is not possible.

Holy fuck… it’s like wildfire.

Luckily we don’t have politicians that say ā€œif we didn’t test we wouldn’t have that many casesā€. Clearly the community transmission is horrific. I’m worried if this escapes Victoria.
