25 new cases
Dan is pissed.
To be fair, I would be too if I was the premier and just when the other states are recovering successfully, my own state experiences a spike in new cases.
Lifting of restrictions deferred to 12 July.
Agreed.
Statement from Andrew regarding the restrictions.
Localised lockdowns potentially incoming.
and with no communites cases with no cases regional vic could open right up
if family cases are down before july 12 that could change
Iâm pissed off too⌠all because of a few individuals that have done the wrong thing. Apparently, one case knew they had it and went to visit family. Another went to work with it.
Thatâs disgraceful. I canât believe people can be so naive about this.
Andrews: You canât pretend the pandemic is over
Andrews says that the Victorian government has followed the advice of public health experts âall the wayâ.
But you can have the best chief health officer, you can have the best public health team, but if individual families decide that they wonât isolate, they will instead go and visit in large numbers other families, then all of that is for nothing.
Weâre all in this together. And whilst I am deeply frustrated by this, and saddened to have to reimpose the household gathering limits, and to make the decision not to proceed on Monday with a number of further restriction easings, that is the responsible thing to do.
He says if they receive health advice that he can ease restrictions before 12 July, then he will.
My message is very clear. If you are sick you cannot go out. If you are sick you cannot go to work. If you are sick you cannot â even moderate symptoms, mild symptoms â you cannot go and visit family and friends. If you are told to isolate, you must isolate.
You cannot make your own decision because it is not your decision to make. You are putting the rest of Victoria at risk⌠These steps are necessary. Theyâre challenging, but theyâre necessary. I know they will add to frustration in the community.
But the one thing that I cannot do⌠is join those families in pretending that this is over because we want it to be over. We just canât do that. That would be irresponsible and that will set us back.
These people have only got themselves to blame. They canât complain!
They have ruined it for the rest of us who continue to do the right thing day to day.
Compared to other states who didnât go as heavy as VIC in the restrictions, it meant the push back wouldnât have been as big as VIC.
Thereâs whispers of an AFL player being infected⌠not good
Yes there is reports an Essendon player has tested positive .
Essendon v Melbourne match to be called off tomorrow. AFL to have a press conference at 4pm
Iâm not sure what Ahronâs point is hereâŚVictoria shouldnât have locked down as much? People like to shop? New Zealand had a heavy lockdown and the only cases since have been border related.
I reckon 5 per household rule being put back in Vic is good. I never understood why they lifted it to 20 so quickly. I have a small apartment and could have 20 when restaurants much bigger with proper rules could have the same. This is a good wake up call to remind people at all gatherings, including homes to socially distance and not hug/hand shake etc.
Does anyone know, are the states still paying for the hotel quarantines? Surely if Victoria enforces a $2000 charge to cover hotel costs and food would be a good way to deter international travel.
This should be enforced soon before dual citizens head to the norther hemisphere for the tourist season.
Queensland is to introduce a charge for the hotel stays from July.
