The Victorian premier, Daniel Andrews , and health minister, Jenny Mikakos , will give a press conference at 2.30pm local time in Melbourne. There have been vague reports from Victorian political reporters that the stateâs latest coronavirus figures have been the subject of some concern.
So we will learn what that means in about an hour.
It really is a concern. Doesnât look good.
Iâm all for not easing restrictions on Monday if local transmission is a concern.
looking at twitter its goes that monday could go ahead since bussiness are getting ready for monday to it could be off and looking at 2 or 3 weeks before 2.b could be going ahead . and with 2,30pm its more looking like 2b could be be put off
but;s thats people comments on twitter so who knows
Itâs a very hard call⌠because most businesses that are preparing to open this week have already ordered food / Stock etc. Itâll be another massive loss.
Not looking good since Andrews has called a press conference on a Saturday Afternoon.
The public were calling for restrictions to be eased and they were eased. Now they probably have been ones who have stuffed this up for the rest of us.
Andrews has always said restrictions will be eased depending on numbers at the time when they are due to be eased.
the deputy cho was adiment that monday was going ahead no matter what. but i dare say after yesterday what wasnât asked or reported was that it was also on the weekend figures. even tho Dr Annaliese van Diemen said that today and tomorrow wasnt going to change the plan
the weekend australia is has just said this:Victoria considers postponing restrictions ease
Victorian health authorities are holding crisis talks amid a spike in coronavirus numbers to consider whether to postpone a planned relaxation of restrictions on Monday.
The Weekend Australian has been told the new COVID-19 case numbers for Saturday are ânot goodâ, with an announcement expected from Premier Daniel Andrews and Health Minister Jenny Mikakos later this afternoon following discussions underway between health bureaucrats and the Andrews government. The Australian Health Protection Principal Committee has previously indicated it is using a non-quarantine Âinfection rate of fewer than 10 new cases per day nationally as a rough benchmark to determine the timing of the further easing of restrictions.
it must be very important then if 3aw going to break into there football broadcast
Bloody hell. Itâs moving now.
They need to delay the relaxation of easing restrictions.
i would say monday is off the cards now and some are calling for vic to closer its borders
and some where on twitter i just read its 20 or up to 20+ cases for today with one case in hotel quarntine
They probably wonât break into it but rather cover it at half time
10 will be showing the press conference though for Victorian viewers:

huge news means its got to be bad
Take a breath. Itâs going to be ok. See what Dan has to say at 2.30.
yeah. something i said i would never go its go in to the fearmongering stage . but i j just did:( next time i will never read twitter of breaking news for victoria til someone offical says something
That can be the problem with Twitter! And Simonâs tweets are a cause for alarm. Which isnât fair.
Premiers statement says in house numbers reducing from 10 to 5. No expansion of businesses as planned however can continue to reopen and trade.
