We could see the possibility of the NSWs and VIC borders close. This would help NSWs open up to the rest of the country. Victoria could be isolated from the rest of the country.

I doubt the rest of Australia (particularly WA, SA & NT) will want to allow people from NSW in until thereās no community transmission. Recently NSW has had the odd bit of community transmission here and there, however most of the new cases over the past month or so have been from returning overseas travelers.
Then there are the NSW/VIC border towns and other things to take into consideration, like the amount of business that is likely done between Sydney & Melbourne. Does the NSW Government want to potentially isolate itself from everyone except perhaps the ACT? Iām not so sure about that at this stage.
I think the main issue with closures of the NSW-Victorian border is that, in general, there are populated areas surrounding towns on both sides of the border, whereas the Queensland-NSW border towns usually only feature developed areas on one side of the border. The only exception is on the coast, but the population south of Tweed Heads is high enough that all services are available on both sides of the border.
If it does start getting much worse in Victoria while NSW remains unscathed, we might just have to shut the border down to get the rest of the country to open up to us. The question is - would it be worth the economic impact of a Victorian border closure?

I understand peoples frusturarions but because of a select few idiots in victoria who chosen to ignore the health advice and go out while having covid 19 clearly are to blame now for the reinstatement of restrictions. Personally they should cop a fine . A heavy one.

I went to Highpoint a couple of Sundayās ago as I started a new job and needed some pants. I made the comment that it was like pre-covid levels that day. People here think the crisis is over due to the easing of restrictions. Itās really bad.
thats like here where iam here in wendouree. lots of people are outand about at stocklands . but we dont have any cases here whatsoever so i think people are thinking that no cases means its gone but it hasnt. i think people in regional victoria esp here in ballarat will be glad if and when there are new measures for us
it was because some people in melbourne thought it was a good idea fo the houselds of 20 to go other peoples house which made it way past the 20 limit
You know I was thinking, when getting clothes now, I always wash them when I get home. I know what size I am in terms of business pants and shorts, so I donāt try them on in store, but call me paranoid, I think thats the best way to clothes shopping these days.
I donāt think itās over, I just worry W.A will have a spike soon though. Too many idiots squished on the esculators at Perth train station thinking we donāt need tos ocial distance. Although generally most people are good.
I really hope Victoria can come out of this again.

and as dan said if lgc need to be in locked down esp in melborune to ease the cases then so be it. iam sure once the 3weeks is over it will be back to be what is being planned and maybe more
I was at Highpoint today and you wouldnāt have thought it was COVID. People everywhere and the traffic was shocking.

Iāve been to Chaddy a couple of weeks ago and the crowds definitely made it look like COVID wasnāt a thing. Iāve been avoiding shopping centres ever since.

Thatās a bit dramatic lol. The only difference to what we have in place is house gathering numbers dropping, which I think for most having more than 5 is not a norm anyway. Itās the right move given most new cases are from large family gatherings. Dan made a good point that in the home itās easier to put down your barriers than you would in public places. So with that restricted people will be more conscious of COVID again as well and hopefully will cause the numbers to ease off again.

and its only for 3 weeks at this stage and if the family cases arent there then it could be sooner then july 12th
I am disappointed with the spike of COVID-19 cases in Victoria in recent days, but to blame a small number of families for the reinstatement of restrictions for number of people in gatherings, and postponement of easing of restrictions for pubs and restaurants for three weeks is so, so unfair. I just think infections among relatives in these families is unfortunate, and we should accept the fact that clusters will happen from time to time.
The food businesses have suffered enough. They should have been able to serve 50 people at a time from next Monday, June 22 as scheduled.

i know a lot of people are not happy with dan andrews atm esp as you said for blaming a small of number of famuillies for the resinstament of restrictions for number of people . and with the postpoment of easing restrictions for pubs and restaturants to go from 20 to 50 i just found out a lot of cafes in my home town of ararat arnt going to open now since for some its not woth opening for 20 and that if they open at all
Should produce some big numbers on the news front in Melbourne this evening. Last few Weekend Arvo press releases had both 7 and 9 in the 400s nudging half a million.
If the public followed the rules that have been set in place to begin with we wouldnāt be in this mess what weāre now in.
As soon as lockdown ended the public chose not to follow them anymore. The shopping centres have been packed ever since, the roads are busier.
