an intertesting thing jsut came out of the press confrence with the vic deputy cho . they dont just look at commuinty transmission cases for the easing of ristrictions as i first thought.its trends over the last weeks and days over a range of differnt areas these include:case numbers, outbreaks, the size of the outbreaks,case numbers that have community transmission vs hotel quarntines and other things like policy changes , what they are seeing bavourial in the commuinty , and commuinty movement and commumintyu micro and marco distencing( whatever that means lol ) and no singel messure

Exactly. That’s why we had a suppression and have built the capacity now to track/trace clusters and also deal with any spikes. Of course ideally we won’t see big spikes but if it happens now we are in a much better position to cope with an increase than we were 3 months ago.
I don’t think so at all. Look at the bigger clusters in Melbourne. We have ones that seem to be connected to workplaces (Cedar meats, Mcdonalds) and now the new cluster was families visiting each others houses. The family one to me is a bigger risk than restaurants having less than 50 people. At least most tables are spread out and separated so if someone infected goes the only real risk are those that they are seated with. I always thought there was no need to lift up from the 5 per household to 20 because 20 people having a party in a small apartment could be risky whereas 20-50 people spread out in a restaurant with strict regulations feels much less risky.

I know someone who came back from OS and just completed their 2 weeks hotel quarantine. What we both found strange was that there was no testing done for COVID-19 - on arrival or on leaving the hotel. They were just asked if they felt OK and whether they had any symptoms.
Given that there are not a huge number of people involved, I would have thought that this would be one group of people that would be tested at some point during their quarantine.

yeah that does sound like a concern, i would have assumed they are tested every day. especially after the Rydges outbreak.
USA (pop. 330m) - 2,263,651 total coronavirus cases
Europe (pop. 740m) - 2,268,136 total coronavirus cases
not a good look for the USA, just as their 7 day average is showing a clear upwards trend, with the fastest increases in Florida.
In Trumps preferred metric - deaths per capita - they have recently overtaken Ireland and the Netherlands to be the 7th worst in the world.
The closed borders in WA - what does that exactly mean? You can travel there but must quarantine for 14 days, or you cannot travel there at all?
I’m not 100% but a friend of mines daughter was living there and she got told if she leaves she will not be allowed back in WA. She is a resident of SA but living in WA.
SA might be different to WA but my friends Mum drove to Adelaide from Melbourne sometime in mid-April. She’s from Melbourne but her parents live over there so wanted to stay with them. She could go through the border but had to do the 14 day isolation.

I think the WA’s chief health officer needs to advise the government when it’s safe to reopen state borders, so the government can start planning ahead.
It’s becoming obvious that COVID-19 is a trojan horse for a rejuvenated secessionist movement in the west.

You can leave WA, but can only return if you valid reason to do so. In practice if you normally live in the state you should be fine, but you still need to apply for a permit.
That permit can take up to a week to come back, a family member recently had to apply as they needed to go to Melbourne for a few weeks.

Hmm ok thanks. I’m in Melb but feeling like I want to return to WA permanently . I’ll have to see what the options are.

There has been around 1,000 new cases each day for the past ten days but the testing rate is relatively low.
