COVID-19: Discussion (2022 Onwards)

I guess that the Gold Coast is the Covidiot capital of Australia now with people throwing COVID Parties like how that man in Austria died a couple of months ago after going to one.

Really not thrilled about the minimum 7 days of isolation before “returning to work”… it’s a huge test of the honesty system now and as we know not everyone is honest. The concern for me is that anyone can now say they’re feeling better without actually fully recovering and potentially spread their covid around the work place.

Churches such as Hillsong are exempt from music, singing and dancing bans.

More purchasing limits from Coles.

Saw a woman at Aldi the other day with her trolley over stacked with toilet paper. Can’t believe people are falling for this again?!

I could not believe just how empty the shelves were at my local supermarket.

Perishables were pretty much gone, next to no fruits or veg, no dairy or produce…meat non-existent. I don’t think I’ve seen it this bad before.

The non-perishables were still in good supply, though. We won’t be starving, but I think there’ll be some constipation from the lack of fibre in our diets over the next few weeks.

I went to Woolworths at The Glen tonight after work and the whole toilet paper aisle was empty. There were plenty of tissues available though.
Fruit, vegetable and meat were plenty, although I am not sure how long it would last.

I’m really disappointed, but not surprised at how much the MSM has blasted the empty supermarket shelves story in WA when it’s still largely not applicable here apart from a few items, ironically that were likely panic bought because of the aforementioned east coast centric media coverage and some dubious pictures on some large local Facebook groups.

Saying this after doing my usual shop and not seeing any complete out of stocks, reduced stocks of toilet paper and pre packed meat and that was it.

Yes, I went to Coles yesterday and was completely surprised too.
I had seen reports online but had assumed that this was happening in Sydney and Melbourne only.

Salad, fruit, veges, meats all looked very bare.
Sauces aisle was looking a bit sparse.
Pet food (main thing I went to get) was completely empty.
Freezers had massive sections completely empty.

I went in to get a few things we needed and left with less than half of my shopping list ticked off

Omicron has peaked in London and all of UK - and there are less deaths this winter “with covid” than the historical 5 year average flu death count

Also less people In ICU than any January for 5 years

Thanks Vaccines :syringe:

I see the ABC (at least on News Breakfast) has picked up a story that got a run yesterday on the Telegraph’s website about NSW MPs offices getting access to rapid tests.

Much like the social media commentary, no one bothered to read past about the 4th paragraph of the story where it was made reasonably clear that the tests were made available by the Department of Parliamentary Services for workplace testing of office staff.

NSW number of new cases largely meaningless without RAT data

Even with RAT data they’re going to be somewhat meaningless

That said, a significant bump in PCR testing numbers yesterday

21 deaths in both states. Shocking.

NSW Positive RAT reporting has gone live

Its also in the Service NSW app under “COVID-19 Resources”

I don’t understand what your concern is. You are most infectious at the start of infection, about 2 days prior to symptoms and 2-3 post symptoms. There are more people out there in the community at that point that are infectious and don’t even know it, than there are people infectious after leaving 7 days of isolation. Just remember that 7 days isolation for most comes 2-5 days after being exposed to the virus. So it is long enough buffer.

NSW are going to make it an offence not to report a positive Rapid Antigen Test, but I’m not sure how the hell that’s supposed to work

NSW have reported several deaths today that were “historic” according to Dr Chant
