Did a great job buggering up 10. Hang on to your hats at ARN.
So that’s Ciaran in charge of ARN again
Knowing the Radio Today audience, the article’s details will fly over the heads of 99% of its readers.
Mumbrella convention
The SCA and ARN boys take on an inquisitive audience member:
Typical Mumbrella fashion, write off the attendee who has paid money to your event.
From Radioinfo:
ARN’s revenue of $235.5 million was up by 3% on the previous year, but a 14% increase in operating costs to $30.8 million meant an EBITDA net increase of just 1% to $80.5 million.

The margin is 36%. No surprise considering how lean it is run.
This business can afford much more investment in live shifts, new talent, talent development, external marketing, better news resources and so on.
Much of the debt position has been reversed, time to invest HT&E.
Did SCA write down their brand intangibles for the introduction of Hit & MMM in regional radio and did they increase intangible value for the tv affiliation move from 10 to 9?
This all happened in the 16/17 FY, yet no record in the 2017 financial report.
Andy Kay has been appointed Nova 100’s brand and promotions manager.
This is a better thread to post the following, as it involves both a KIIS & Pure Gold/Classic Hits station.
Somehow doubt the Canberra FM studios will move - from memory they’ve only recently been re-done up in the north side
It’s been a few years, but they’re still quite modern.
I too doubt they’ll move. They’ve had ample opportunity to combine with TV already if they wanted to. ARN probably want to keep them separate.
I remember 2CC and what became Mix 106.3 being in an old cottage on that site, so the current building was a huge step up, while 2CA and FM104.7 were in the building where the interstate bus terminal is on Northbourne Ave.
one of the requirements of valuing intangibles is that it can be reliably valued - thats potentially difficult
Channel 10 Southern Cross Austereo has a new corporate logo; updated on their website and Facebook page today
Why bother, find Nine the funding to complete the acquisition. Would be good to dilute Nine’s significant shareholders of Gordon et al.
New look websites for ARN’s stations being rolled out:
Mix 102.3 Adelaide - https://www.mix1023.com.au/
97.3fm Brisbane - https://www.973fm.com.au/
4KQ Brisbane - https://www.4kq.com.au/
The Edge Katoomba - https://www.961.com.au/
96FM Perth - https://www.96fm.com.au/
No changes yet for Cruise Adelaide, Mix Canberra or the Sydney and Melbourne stages. One suspects they’ll be set up over the course of the morning.
First thoughts: good to see there’s finally a schedule on the shows page (eg: The Edge), some details still need to be updated - for instance, the Mix Adelaide schedule lists weekday programs on Saturday and Sunday too. Also good to see that ‘currently on air’ show information is no longer pegged to your device’s time: as of writing this, the old Gold 104.3 was showing Gavin Miller (4-7pm) as being on air.
Ugh still no mention or promotion for DAB+ on the 4KQ site. What the actual… What’s wrong with them? Here they have a station that’s stuck on AM and doing amazingly well but why don’t they try to give it just a bit of help??
