Exactly. Classic case of ‘leaders’ not understanding their product.

It’d be different if they had a local GM. Peter Verhoeven knew how to add the extra 1% to KQ.

Not surprisingly, no change for Mix Canberra. Always the last cab off the rank

From Radioinfo:

Macquarie Media struggles in a difficult market

Macquarie Media Limited’s group revenue for the last financial year was down 3.3% to $131.8 million with the company stating that the NSW and federal elections, a subdued housing market and variable business and consumer confidence impacted on the year’s earnings.

Is this now the right time for Nine to buy or more bad news coming?

I wish they’d focus on this acquisition and not the small change of MRN.

Very sad situation. Jamie Martinovich likely unknown by most beyond WA and like Gary Roberts, a powerhouse in Perth.

If you want top legal or medical outcomes, WA again proven as not the place to need help. This was no mystery virus, thorough medical practice expected of modern day hospital care would’ve identified this, yet Jamie is dead.

As posted in Triple M thread, former Austereo executive Sean Pickwell (husband of radio presenter Robin Bailey) died early this morning from cancer.

Former Austereo executive.

Thankfully Sean had nothing to do with the current era of mediocrity that besets SCA.

According to an article from the AFR (via Vaaju) about James Warburton’s possible further deals for Seven in the wake of its takeover of Prime Media Group:

Combining Seven with outdoor advertiser or media FM radio network and music streaming business HT&E could be an interesting possibility and there are probably $30 million to $40 million in synergies that could be pulled out.

HT&E is the parent company of ARN, who owns the KIIS & Pure Gold stations. It also owns 50% of Mix 106.3 & Hit 104.7 in Canberra with SCA.

David McClung returns from their Sydney office as program director.

…with music a major focus in the always-on battle for market share.

You are not going to win Melbourne by sharing a safe / stale / repetitive playlist between Nova 100 & Nova 96.9.

Here’s an idea taylor a playlist to each individual market like you do so well in Brisbane and Perth.

Nova in Sydney and Melbourne need to stand out from the pack. This won’t happen with the same 30 hits and throwbacks on repeat everyday.

The answer is right in front of Nova. No.1 in Bris, Ade and Per. So what are they doing that Syd and Melb aren’t!?

From what I am getting the Adelaide market skews older then Sydney and Melbourne so giving Adelaide the Sydney log was never going to work.
Nova 919 only took off when they starting taking the Perth log.

Nova 96.9 and Nova 100 are in extremely competitive markets, yes they have high cum but the share is low. It is the safe repetitive playlist that is a turnoff.

I don’t think the whole Nova 106.9 log is the answer for Sydney and Melbourne, certainly all the new music they play and a some of their throwbacks.
