Note this is a global average. Earth as a whole is warmer in the Northern Hemisphere summer because there’s much more land in the NH than in the SH. The frigid Antarctic winter isn’t enough to counterbalance the intense heating of the NH landmasses.
Do we need a separate thread for Victorian earthquakes?
New car number plate slogan for Victoria
Victoria - The State That Rocks
Triple M should do something similar with their local promos.

A couple more for a Shake 20 (or however many you want to make it) countdown

Shake This City - Non Stop Dancers (from 1984 - one of those Top 10 one hit wonders that has faded deep into obscurity).

Hippy Hippy Shake - Georgia Satellites
Shake A Tailfeather - Ray Charles
Shake It Off - Taylor Swift
Shake Your Groove Thing - Peaches & Herb
Shakedown - Bob Seger

And hopefully it won’t come to this for anyone in an earthquake…
You’re History - Shakespear’s Sister
Forgot about that one! You could also throw in ‘Rock This Town’ by the Stray Cats.
What about “Rockin’ the Suburbs” by Ben Folds?
Absolutely, the M’s flogged that in the early noughties (and probably still do now).
27 deg yesterday, the average for July is 21 deg.
Not looking too good by August.
Probabilities of warmer/cooler than average mean temps over the coming weeks from the EC ensemble
Well, that didn’t take long to break:
We had 21 degrees in Sydney yesterday which would have been close to record breaking for a July.
It’s certainly on the warmer side, but on 30 July 2017, temps did get to 28 degrees in western Sydney (Penrith), which is the record for this time of year.
Observatory Hill for the same date was 26.5 degrees.
Ridiculous for July
24.7 deg with an apparent temp in Yeppoon of 27.6 deg.
Supposed to be much drier air tomorrow.
And there’s still boffins who think climate change and global warming is an elitist/woke/leftist hoax that is a threat to the way of life.
It is a threat, but in a much more dangerous way.
Lol, 21C is only a slightly above average day in July these days. As the shark mentioned, 30 July 2017 was pretty memorable. I ‘escaped’ the heat that day driving up to Coonabarabran on the way to SE QLD.
There is usually a burst of warmth/heat right at the end of July these days. That really ushers in the start of ‘sprinter’. By August, 25C+ is a semi regular occurrence on the NSW coast. I was born on July 29 and have seen the climate change on my birthday during my relatively short lifetime. July 29 was always cold and windy as a kid in the 90s; now it’s mostly spring- like. The coldest part of winter is generally late June these days.
The last couple of springs have been cool because of a negative Indian Ocean Dipole, but I’d expect plenty of hot days in Sydney this spring as the IOD is in its dry (positive) phase. That means the heat in Central Australia tends to build due to lack of cloud/rain from the Indian Ocean, and NW winds ahead of cold fronts bring that heat to NSW.
Hope we never see those mid 30 temps here in our winters!!!
South America gets a strong foehn wind from the Andes but it’s still alarming. The areas of 37C are well within the tropics. Still the 30C at Buenos Aires (nearly 35 degrees south) is the earliest on record I believe.
I expect the heat to get going in coastal NSW quite soon.
