A discussion about the lack of SBS availability in regional areas in 1994 in the ‘Random TV History’ thread when the FIFA World Cup was prompted me to delve into the SMH archives and dig this out (Sunday 17 July 1994) for coverage of the final…. Seems like all Prime markets aired it as I imagine Prime wouldn’t have the ability to split it’s signal that precisely to only those areas not served by SBS.
No News on Ten until 10.30pm? Capital still had their news at 6.
Yes, there was a period during 1994 where Ten didn’t have a weekend evening bulletin in SYD/MEL/BNE but I think ADL and PER still did… I think Charles Curran still owned CAP, ADL and PER then?
Yep. Ten axed the early evening news on weekends and just had the national late news.
Did 10 air two weekend bulletins in the ACT - 5:00 PM National Weekend news then the Capital News Bulletin at 6:00 PM? - for six months up until this time 1995 and 18 months earlier (August of 1993) was the final ever state-based Weekend Editions of 10 Eyewitness News for NSW/VIC/QLD markets. Mind you, WA and SA continued to use the Eyewitness Brandings for state-based bulletins until around this time 1996.
No, Capital swapped the Canberra news around with the 1 hour 5.30 network programme (on Saturdays ‘Unsolved Mysteries’ and Sundays ‘World Of Disney’). This is the previous Sunday as below.

Wasn’t STV 8 part of VIC TV by start of 1990?
Noting that the Melbourne test was Jan 12-16, does anyone have TV Listings for Boxing Day 1989 including the Benson and Hedges WSC match Australia vs Sri Lanka from the MCG?
Just a question, where is Family Feud in this schedule? At this point in time Family Feud was screening at 6:3]pm on Seven Sydney and Prime NSW over Sunmer 1989/90.
Also Home And Away was screening Home And Away double episodes at 7:30pm Tuesdays (this wasn’t a Tuesday, but just mentioning this is how the timeslot became free,)
the changeover for STV8 occurred later in January, I think it was around the 21st.
Home And Away resumed on 8 January, Monday-Thursday

Day after the launch of multichannel Eleven featured on the printed guides. Seven had the Sydney International live until 2PM but the night session was delayed until late-night back then. Over on Nine there was a Women’s T20I between Australia and England at Adelaide Oval shown at 2:30PM AWST. Not sure if ti was live or delayed.
So I have found some Sydney paper guides from January 2004 from my small paper collection. Sorry for the creases.
First time I have seen a guide specifically call out a “diff episode” on regional.
I remember Seven promoting its “Spankin’ New Summer” lineup of programs for that 2003-04 summer period, it also looks like the Australian Open evening sessions were delayed by half an hour (or in the case of 20/1/2004 delayed by 90 minutes).
Don’t remember when evening sessions began to be broadcast live on the east coast but I think it would been towards the end of the noughties decade.
The Chroncle waa an interesting show. I had been trying to remember the name of it recently. It investigated the unusual. It was originally paired up with Boomtown on Wednesday after Blue Heelers
That was the period they aired “My Wife & Kids” at 7.00pm weeknights.
The TV guide I posted saw the Sydney International which was known then’s evening session delayed until 10:30pm in Perth

Day 1 of the 2006 Australian Open 20 years ago tonight. 7 was coming off a historic Australian Open the previous year when Lleyton Hewitt reached the Final and with the Men’s Final alone drawing 4 million viewers
Day session was live on Channel 7 in Perth until 3pm but the night sessions were delayed from 7:30pm. Thank god for streaming and more choices on Nine/Stan in 2026. Delayed Australian Open on 7 in in Perth ended in 2012.
Though the 7TWO rollover (now 9Go!) at 6:00pm would begin in 2011, allowing the tennis to continue while the main channel went to the news - I remember there was major backlash or something to that effect when Seven broke off for the news in 2010 whilst Samantha Stosur played Serena Williams on Rod Laver Arena.
