so did he win?

I noticed that TEN Morning News was shortened to 10 minutes to make way for TTN. They also did that the same to WIN. I wondered whether WIN had TEN morning News on a Tuesday back then?
Yes he did TelevisionAU, he Won Cash and Prizes Totalling $638,068 on Wednesday the 22nd of August 2007.
I am genuinely curious how you recall this
Ten showing 3 episodes of Futurama that night.
They had more than likely pulled that with The Simpsons countless times at that point. Also seems odd they didn’t have something ready for the 8:30 to 9:30 slot once The O.C. had finished a few weeks earlier.
I’m not sure what was with this but I just noticed that 9 & 7 don’t have their normal 2 hrs of home shopping from 2 am in this schedule.
From Wikipedia:
From 28 July to 1 September 2006, two teams of sports stars (Australian Football League vs. National Rugby League) competed for their favorite charity.

I noticed that Channel Nine nabbed the rights for US Sitcom, Just Shoot Me. Previously, it was shown on Channel 10, but then Nine gained the rights to the sitcom.
A very heavy sports load on Channel 7 and SBS with the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. SBS screened niche events while Channel 7 screened big events. I wonder how big are the audience numbers for the Olympics coverage on SBS?
Wouldn’t be shocked if that was in the same deal they picked Seinfeld up in since they started running that around August 2008 in the similar timeslot.
Sally Pearson now a Gold Coast Sports Presenter of 7 Gold Coast News with Amanda Abate and Steve Titmus finished in Second Place receiving a Silver Medal in the 100m Hurdles Final with a Time of 12.64secs from Dawn Harper from the United States of America who won the Gold Medal with a Time of 12.54secs setting a New Personal Best.
Normal? Nine only did 30-60 minutes at that point, only went to 2-3 hours around maybe 6-7 years ago I think around the time SCA affiliated with them.
Seven used to be an hour, eventually expanded to two hours, luckily it has held since.

The Force - Behind the Line premiered on that night on Channel 7.
There was an agreement that anything from 10 that Southern Cross didn’t want in their schedule, TasTV/WinTas could add to their schedule.

After 16 days of excitement, the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing comes to a close with the Closing Ceremony at Beijing Olympic Stadium. The baton would pass over to London for the next Olympic Games (which would be broadcasted on Nine/Foxtel). I remembered that Bruce McAvaney, Ric Birch and the late Rebecca Wilson commentated the Closing Ceremonies Live. (I assume that Peter Donegan called the Marathon races live). I noticed that the AFL match between the West Coast Eagles and Hawthorn Hawks took priority on Channel 7. I wondered if the Olympic Games continued on 7HD whilst the AFL match was played? Over on SBS, they screened niche events e.g. volleyball, handball.
2008 also saw the Return of Australian Idol where Andrew Gunsberg’s Co-Presenter James Matheson’s Final Season as Presenter with Ricky-Lee Coulter Joined Idol as a Reporter.
Wes Carr now Wesley Dean won Season 5 of Australian Idol for 2008 and made TV History Winning an Australian Idol Development fund worth $200,000 and also a Brand-New Car being a Mazda 2 Hatchback beating Luke Dickens.

If anyone wants to use this on their websites, go right ahead.
And a message published in The Mercury that day by TVT6 republished as is.
Tonight, at 7 O’Clock, TVT goes off the air for two hours.
We have been ordered to do so by the Minister for the Media for what is, by any normal standards, a minor infraction of a rigidly inflexible code arbitrarily enforced on an area of the media which, by the nature of its operation, is vulnerable to the human and technical errors which can lead to an infringement.
We do not offer excuses.
We do not ask for your sympathy.
The incidents did occur and according to the rules, we are guilty and must take the consequences. That the consequences are harshly out of proportion to the offence should be obvious to all, regardless of personal views on advertising.
The purpose of this statement is not to attack the Minister concerned, or to offer an apologetic defence. It is simply to repudiate the implication that the Management and Staff of TVT have behaved in some sort of underhand fashion. This has not been stated, in so many words. In fact, almost the opposite has been said in official quarters, but in such a manner to imply that the operations of the station are ethically unsound.
This is not true. We are people doing a job, hopefully for the entertainment of the public, to the best of our ability, and WITHIN A SELF-IMPOSED CODE OF ETHICAL AND PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT. We have always operated with our responsibility to viewers, and advertisers, firmly in mind. Tasmanian commercial radio and television stations have adhered to this code of ethics since their inception long before these same rules of conduct became law.
It has been said that the amendment to the broadcasting and television act put forward by the Labor Party would have provided alternatives to a suspension of licence. This is not so as the proposed alterations to the act did not cover this type of situation.
So this is our objection. Years of professional, ethical operation by responsible people have been brought into disrepute by unnecessarily harsh action.
We are not guilty of trying to take advantage of the undeniable power of our position in the social sphere for our own selfish reasons.
We are guilty of exceeding advertising limits in restricted areas through unavoidable human mistakes…for a total of three minutes 26 seconds.
TVT6 is subjected to this penalty. Yet, on Thursday night, August 14, 7ZR and 7ZL broadcast simultaneously the same programme for over 5 minutes, because of human error. An operator pushed the wrong button.
Apparently the ABC staff is allowed to be human - ours is not.
We have here attempted to express our view of the situation. We hope that you, as viewers, will be able to take similar action when the opportunity presents itself.
The Management and Staff (TVT6)
Thank you for sharing that!
But wasn’t the main issue being that TVT had been found to exceed this limit multiple times before and had made assurances that it had systems in place to prevent it occurring again, yet it still happened?
And the old ‘whataboutism’ trick… trying to conflate the ABC’s 5 minute muck up
