A very heavy sports load on the Nine Network with the Olympic Games on Nine/GEM and NRL on GEM. I noticed taht the NRL was delayed at 6:30pm on GEM.
Over on Channel 7, the AFL match between West Coast v Geelong match was shown at 7PM, even though the game was held at Subiaco Oval. However, the other states showed it live. I wonder why they didn’t show it live on 7mate in WA?
I always found it odd they aired Shortcuts at 9:00 am after Saturday Disney, It’s something they probably should have aired at the end of the kid’s block at 11:30. It’s kind of jarring to go from that back to Disney shows
given it had a C classification there might have been limits on what time it aired, 11.30 might have been outside of the C zone. Given that Nine and Ten also had C-rated programs on at 9.00 I’d say it was a licence requirement.
Seven could never figure out how to do animated content like Ten did. They dropped the ball with Futurama and that wouldn’t find footing on FTA until Ten picked it up in 2005, KOTH like you said didn’t find footing on FTA until Seven used it as programming for school holidays. They did slightly better with the Seth McFarlane shows (Family Guy and American Dad) but even they got late prime-time slots.
I remembered watching some repeats of Rafferty’s Rules after I came home from school. During afternoon timeslots, Channel 7 inserted encores of Rafferty’s Rules as a filler.
Actually Seven purposely ran Aussie repeats in that slot for a number of years, it wasn’t really “filler”. They ran a repeat run of most or all of Blue Heelers in that slot too.
Quite a heavy Olympics Schedule on Nine/WIN/GEM. I assume that some commentators have left London to head back to Australia including Ray Warren, James Brayshaw, just to name a few. In my memory, Eddie McGuire called the marathon races via Nine feed (while Peter Donegan called the races via Foxtel). Mark Nicholas did the London Gold segment.
Everybody Dance Now premiered on Channel Ten. Sadly, the show would last just two weeks before being pulled from the schedule.
After 17 days, The 2012 Summer Olympics have come to a close with the Closing Ceremony in London’s Olympic Stadium. The baton would pass over to Rio de Janeiro for the next Olympic Games.
Also, a rebooted Big Brother aired on the Nine Network with Sonia Kruger as host. As well, new miniseries of Underbelly Madness also premiered.
I noticed that Channel 9 Perth had a 5-minute abbreviated late-night bulletin.
A very heavy sports schedule on Seven and SBS with the 2008 Summer Olympics.
Fun Fact, Sunil Badami was on his 3rd Night on Temptation with Ed Phillips and Livinia Nixon on his way towards winning almost $640,000 worth of Cash and Prizes.
