I am thinking if Seven produced the Australian version sticking with the UK format rather than 10 Network picking up the Australian version with their own twist incorporating trashy dramatic elements airing on multiple nights making its success in Australia which become a worldwide franchise

Noticed that Sunrise has relocated its studios into Martin Place after the 2004 Summer Olympics ended. Channel 7’s morning lineup had highlights of Day 16 of the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Interesting that Seven to show an afternoon movie in its 2pm timeslot. That night, Channel 7 showed an encore of the Closing Ceremony of the 2004 Summer Olympics.
Meanwhile on Nine, they screened a US Open tennis during the overnight period.

Noticed that Channel 7 aired a primetime Deal or No Deal: Test of the Psychics. This was different to the afternoon version, except where it runs for 1 hour and has different cash incentives of up to $2 million.
On the other hand, Channel Nine showed 5 hours of US Open Coverage. At 6am, they cut off and headed straight to the Today Show.

So basically what the original 2003 format was before it was re-tooled for it’s 5:30 version in 2004.

Start of the end for Nine’s AFL coverage - Nine had the AFL for 5 years. After the conclusion of the home-and-away season, it was Game over 100%. The Seven Network would regain the AFL rights, the following year.

3 of the 4 commentators are now on Fox Footy. Dwayne replaced Eddie when Eddie became CEO of Nine

Nobody has put up on YouTube the montage following their final Sunday game (Collingwood vs North Melbourne) a couple of days later, still much sought after.

This was Fitzroy’s final match in its club history. The Fitzroy Lions merged with the Brisbane Bears to become the Brisbane Lions.

The Steph Show lol. That one didn’t last long.

In fairness, The Steph Show was only a short-term series to promote Stephanie McIntosh’s album that was being released around that time.

In WIN Territory, they showed A Current Affair at 9:30pm straight after the LIve AFL QUalifying match between West Coast Eagles and Sydney Swans at Subiaco Oval. I even noticed that TEN Late News was delayed at 12:25am.

Also a night of extremely overplayed movies. Though this would have been one of the first if not the first time Spider-Man had been shown on FTA but in the ensuing 17 years its been overplayed to death.

On Channel 10 Perth and WIN WA, they broadcasted the AFL match between the Brisbane Lions and St Kilda from 7:30pm on delay. I don’t know why Perth viewers showed the coverage on delayed telecast. Even In QLD (Where the match was played), they broadcasted the match Live.
Nine Perth showed the NRL match from 5:50am the following day (which was a 12 to 13-hour delayed telecast). However, in WIN Territory, they will have to be shown the next day.

With the timezone difference, WIN could’ve went to the tennis at 11pm then the RL replay from 5am - effectively 12 hours of sports coverage.

Didn’t realise that SBS showed the ODI match between England and Australia. I believe that SBS took the Sky Sports feed, even though they have four Australian commentators in the UK (IIRC).

Doing hosting is different to doing match coverage, so entirely understandable.
