Yeah, I recall it was really shit coverage. Hardly anything live.

What a lineup! Would have killed it in the demos.

Nagano 1998 had better Coverage then 2006

Popstars might have put a dent in Ten’s demo figures

I would’ve switched as I remember watching Popstars. Nice of Ten to run dead for that 30 minutes.

So weird to see a 30 minute show like that these days.

A One Day Cricket match between India and Sri Lanka was shown on GEM nationwide. Back in the days, they would show matches not involving Australia on the primary channel. But since the launch of multichannels, they would show the Cricket on GEM in HD.

Network Ten launches The Dolly Show up against 60 Minutes and the new US novelty hit ALF. It didn’t stand a chance, really, and was soon bumped to Saturday afternoons or something like that. Ten then fluked it when they replaced it with The Comedy Company which outrated 60 Minutes within weeks.

Nine’s Home Shopping Show was the pioneer of today’s infomercials!

It was a predecessor but it wasn’t quite the pioneer. Ten had Value Shopping on weekday afternoons with Jimmy Hannan sometime around 1986 or 87. I wouldn’t be game to say that Value Shopping was the first, however. There may have been elements of what we now know as TV home shopping before then.

What was interesting was that WIN Television had Neighbours and The Simpsons at 4:30pm and 5pm respectively.

Channel Nine had to juggle with the 2010 Winter Olympics in and the One Day Cricket between Australia and the West Indies at the MCG. I didn’t watch the Winter Games (as I was still in school), but did CHannel Nine Perth delayed the coverage?
