What were the “Sunday/News Magazine” portion of the 6pm bulletins?
I believe this was one of the very rare occasions in the 2000’s that Ten actually aired a Season 1 Simpsons Episode.
@Aurora The “Sunday/News Magazine” portion of the 6pm bulletins, I think, presented a closer look at topical issues both at home and abroad.
Back in my country, we had a 15 minute magazine-style package called “Sunday’s World”. It aired on TV One (now TVNZ 1) at 6.45pm on Sunday evenings, right after the news (at 6.30pm), and ran from 1975 until around 1979.
“Sunday’s World” was loosely based on and similar in format to the “Sunday/News Magazine” portion of that night’s 6pm news seen on Australian television.
This was probably the first time I saw the pilot episode of the series. I think 10 clearly had the same thoughts about the first season that a lot of people do in that its not particularly good and way too jarring from the rest of the series to air it. Though I did watch that entire Christmas Marathon in 2004
Also, Really odd that 7 aired Family Guy in the mornings at the time. First time I saw Family Guy would have been a few weeks earlier. This would have been around the time the series was about to come back for its 4th Season after FOX had cancelled the series following the 3rd season. Strong DVD sales and a popular run of re-runs on Adult Swim led to the series being picked up by FOX for the 4th season and has remained on FOX since.
7 episodes of The Simpsons. Was the one at 6pm a Christmas episode?
usually just filmed magazine-type stories or puff pieces to fill up the bulletin on what is usually a slow news day. Seven in Sydney used to include movie reviews with Bill Collins on its Sunday night news to fill up space!
Who knows, But based on the few episode descriptions during the marathon, the Christmas themed episodes are all post-Golden Era ones.
which one is the season 1 episode? they look like 00s/late 90s eps to me, also wrong in the assumption that that was the first season 1 ep aired in the 00s, in 2003 there was a marathon hosted by Jade Gatt and Ryan Lappin (Cheez TV fame) which included the season 1 episode Life in the Fast Lane where Marge was attracted to Jacques the bowling instructor, aside from late 90s reruns that’s the only time i remember season 1 being on 10

Prime (AMV) in Victoria already firmly aligned to Seven for programming, despite aggregation being two years away, so no Carols By Candlelight for these viewers
If they were keen enough they could probably hope to have reception of GMV6
I didn’t assume and never said the word first, read my post again.
The marathon you speak of was originally planned to be a lookback at Season 1, only to be changed at the last minute to a “fan favourites” special.
okay i don’t have to be spoken to like that! i’m sorry i spoke! i won’t bother contributing in future then!
nothing rude in what was said to you, he was just correcting your statement
On the VIC TV listings, is first listing GMV and second one BTV?
Yep. On the Saturday listing it identifies the first as Shepparton and the second as Ballarat. And it really just follows the traditional placeholders that those stations held.
Merry Christmas everybody!

Surprised 10 were still dumping episodes of The Wedge this late into 2008.
Temptation on the way out too screening new eps over summer. Must be almost time for Two and a Half Men all year?
