Was Breakfast with Jacki MacDonald a show for children- cartoons with Jacki doing the links?
I didn’t know there was a current affairs show called Today Tonight before Seven’s version began in 1995.
Not sure if there were cartoons but I guess there would have to be

also staggering to see a city like Brisbane had 3 local current affairs shows (although I believe The Sargent Report was not to last long) as well as a local component on ABC’s Nationwide later in the night. I don’t think Melbourne ever had that level of current affairs coverage.
Yes it was a cartoon link show. Ironically with the ahead-of-its-time theme “Wake Up” with Jacki Mac
Do you know what on earth the Jock McEvery Everything Show (BTQ7, 11.45am) was all about?
Sorry but nothing comes to mind.
There were a few in the days before networking became the norm.
e.g. ATV0 had Breakfast A Go-Go in the early 70s, and then The Early Bird Show in the late 1970s to 1980. I remember being very ‘grown up’ when I was probably about 4 or maybe 5 years old when I decided one morning to switch from watching Sesame Street in the mornings to The Early Bird Show. Sesame Street was clearly for babies so I wanted something more grown up, apparently ![]()
Except a few years later my baby brother came along and so the TV was soon back to ABC in the mornings ![]()
Brisbane also had Boris The Black Knight and later Agro.
I have recorded some of the theme songs for Jacki Mac’s show over the years, but unfortunately the copyright owner won’t allow them on YouTube - even in monetised form - and would rather they were never heard again!

Presenting sport on Seven National News in Adelaide was one of the early TV appearances by Bruce McAvaney before he moved to Melbourne in 1983 to join Ten.
And what a name for Nine’s 6pm Adelaide bulletin!
Bring that name back with an appropriate title sequence.
