Rest in peace, Saturday Disney

Also currently on 10 Bold at 7:30am on Sundays.

Is that how it was listed?

Our household rarely watched anything over than The Bill, I’m certain the news break followed the two episodes which were back to back. It was a lengthy update too, not just stale headlines.

SES8 stopped taking Melbourne news a few years earlier and was taking NWS9’s bulletin.

Around 1991 I think.

The Bill, followed by Parkinson were ESSENTIAL Saturday night viewing in our house!

Sydney, Thursday 4 May 1967; and Melbourne, Wednesday 3 May 1967. Notable for being the premiere of The Seekers Down Under television special on Seven, that at the time was the highest rating television program, and had that record for many years. It was filmed in colour, even though at the time Australian television was still black and white.

“(approx.)” needs to be revived! I don’t recall ever seeing that in a TV guide before. Kennedy’s show obviously ran over time and GTV showed the viewers some consideration by alerting them not to expect the late news to screen on time.

Assuming it’s live, I’m impressed Eric Pearce was working that late. Now days Pete Hitchener is likely tucked up in bed at that hour!

Weird that there was no news that I could see on HSV-7. Especially given that it was owned by the Melbourne Herald. Apart from 11:55pm

Penthouse Special on SAS? That’ll never fly today.

1980 was a very different time…with a popular culture which was probably closer to that of the Late 1970s than how we generally look back on/remember the 1980s as these days.

Something else that wouldn’t fly today is a show with the title It’s A Woman’s World being hosted by a male.

What year did Kevin Crease move to NWS9?

Probably at some point during the first half of 1987?

According to the very limited footage available online, he was still at ADS-7 at the start of the year while Steve Whitham was the male co-presenter in July. With Caroline Ainslie the female co-presenter in that 14/7/1987 Opener, this would suggest it’s also likely that Anne Fulwood departed for Ten Sydney by then.
