Do you know any links where I can buy The Listener magazine from the 1970s? As a kid I used to love watching my favourite shows in Petone, Lower Hutt. I’m a nostalgic person and would love to have a copy showing the listings on the magazine. Shows like Batman, Gilligan’s Island, Lassie and I Dream of Jeannie. Many thanks.
Sorry, @Tony1 - I don’t have any links regarding classic NZ TV listings (through the NZ Listener) at this point. The listings, in large PDF files, were given to me by Mark Hutchings, who had worked at the TVNZ Digital Production Library as a senior researcher and is now working at Ngā Taonga Sound & Vision.
Thanks for sharing your memories, Tony. I am a media enthusiast and my dream television network - PTV Network New Zealand (Patrick Te Pou Enterprises Ltd) - is on the cards. I created a raft of linear television channels and a streaming/on-demand video platform so if my dream network becomes a reality, one of the linear channels will combine classic US and UK programming with new British dramas and top-tier documentaries.
I did a television interview with Three’s The Hui nearly two weeks ago - talking about my love of the media and bringing my network, i.e. the best of Discovery NZ (Three, Bravo, HGTV, Eden, Rush and Newshub) and Sky (Sky Sport and Prime) as separate companies, to life.
What do you think?

@TelevisionAU Screened in New Zealand between 1981 and 1988, “Prisoner” was an Australian soap set in the (fictitious) all-women Wentworth Detention Centre in Melbourne. It was shown in an afternoon timeslot (2.30pm) rather than primetime (8.30pm).
Life at Wentworth was never going to be rosy. There were tears, body searches and many a hand slammed in the steam press.
Reg Watson, in the senior ranks at the Grundy Organisation, was the brains behind the series. It was conceived by Grundys for the 0-10 Network (now Network 10) in 1978 and showed the grim lives of Wentworth’s female inmates and was considered raw, powerful television in its time.
Watson had just returned from Britain where he had been one of the originators of the long-running serial “Crossroads”, and went on to create other Australian serials like “Sons and Daughters” and, most famous of all, “Neighbours”.
To avoid confusion from mixing “Prisoner” up with the 1960s series “The Prisoner” (starring Patrick McGoohan), and to avoid being sued by the producers of that series, “Prisoner” was retitled “Prisoner: Cell Block H” in both the US and UK, and “Caged Women” in Canada.
The first episode of “Prisoner”, in fact, was shown in Australia on 27 February 1979 and in New Zealand on the afternoon of Monday 2 March 1981 at 2.30pm on TV2 (now TVNZ 2).

Hello Patrick, thank you so much for your reply and thank you for the time and effort in your message. I wish you the best of luck and hope your dream network becomes a reality. If it doesn’t work out, there’s an old saying I heard, “Don’t get bitter, get better” and keep soldiering on. But seeing your success in the media I think it’s only second nature to you. And again I want to thank you especially for providing all those TV listings from the 1970s, especially the years 1975 to 79 and I will treasure them all. I emigrated to Australia in 1979 when I was only 9 and miss my homeland. Go the Allblacks!

I believe the 1996 Cricket World Cup was also shown on TV2. Maybe just NZ games? I might be wrong. Any idea Paddy?
