Today (31 October) is my birthday and here are the listings for both TV One (now TVNZ 1) and Channel 2 (now TVNZ 2). “Halloween with the Addams Family” was due to screen that day as part of “3.45 Live!”, however, this was dropped and replaced by “Jem”, “Wildtrack” and “Blind Date” due to late changes.

“Blind Date”, a dating game show hosted by Dave Jamieson and Suzy Aiken (now Suzy Clarkson), premiered on Channel 2 the day before. It was first shown at 5.15pm on the evening of Monday 30 October 1989.

Was that the Australian version of Sale of the century?

@BJT2 Nope. The New Zealand version of “Sale of the Century” - hosted by Steve Parr and Jude Kirk (now Jude Dobson).

Happy birthday Paddy!

Interesting to see Neighbours in the listings for an hour.

What are these programmes about?

“Brush Strokes” was a British sitcom, and “Fast Forward” and “Public Eye” were New Zealand made programmes.

For instance, “Fast Forward” was devoted to science and technology (but not sketch comedy) and similar in format to “Beyond 2000” from Australia. “Public Eye” was a puppet-based sketch comedy series similar to “Splitting Image” from the UK.

“Star Runner” - an eight-part drama series about a young man who dreamed of being a successful harness racing driver - was rerun on Channel 2 (now TVNZ 2) at 4pm on the afternoon of Friday 5 November 1993. It was first shown in 1991.

In the first episode, Josh Logan (played by Andrew Thurtell) began working for Carol West (Alison Bruce), owner of the promising horse ‘Star Runner’, and it seemed all his dreams may come true. But ‘Star Runner’ was the centre of a mystery and Josh was drawn into a ruthless fight.

You can watch it via NZ On Screen by clicking its link above.

Over on TV One, the closing addresses in the 1993 election campaign were broadcast at 8.05pm. Before that, a shortened edition of “Palmers Garden Show” was shown.

@PaddyTePou nice listings again. Any idea when TV2 started broadcasting The Late Show with David Letterman? I am guessing around 1996?

@OnAir In fact, “The Late Show with David Letterman” started airing on New Zealand screens via TV2 (now TVNZ 2) on the evening of Monday 1 July 1996 at around 10.30pm.
