I remember it, but I can’t remember if it was funny or not!
We had The Comedy Company, Frontline, Hey Dad, that weird sitcom with the talking dog, Ronnie Johns… quite a lot of Australian programming hopped the Tasman.

@TV4 You mean “The Bob Morrison Show”?
Yes. Small typo
It could be - to be honest, I can’t remember what it was called.

It’s interesting to see TV One back in the day trying to emulate TV3 with the odd placements of Sally JR and Ricki Lake. Was TV One going through an identity crisis? It’s also very interesting to see all 3 main channels having their own late night news shows; Primetime, NewsNight and Nightline, this reminds me of 2005 when TV One, TV3 and Prime all had 7pm Current Affairs shows; Close Up, Campbell Live and Paul Holmes/Holmes.
Thank god that did not work, and what is weird at TV One trying out children’s programmes few years later in afternoon slot
Is that about when the Aussie guy came over and tried to dramatically revamp the schedule? He reduced the number of Coronation St airings at a time it was still very popular - his name escapes me currently but I’ll Google it later.
When tried equalise the programmes across TV One and TV2 and tried to let go of Coronation Street to a rival network
That’s right, the infamous Aussie programmer. His name eludes me, was is it Jason something? I heard alot of stories about him and to see that old listing, confirms what he attempted to do.
Yes the 2005 Kids Zone experiment they tried out to help bring in a younger audience. Despite its failure, it did have alot more public service/less commercial kids programming compared to what TV2 and TV3 were doing at the time and ofcourse would eventually lead to the expanded kids programming on TVNZ 6.
1995-1997 had Noddy, Chatterbox and Bananas in Pyjamas that played on TV One was also that same guy that did this bizzare scheduling which normally reserved to TV2 (now TVNZ 2). Half of former Zone programming had transferred to TVNZ 6 due to failed commercial expectations.
Mike Lattin.
Yes, I seem to recall TV1 really going for a pre-school vibe in that slot while TV2 went for older kids/teens.
But in mid 1997 pre school programming was reverted to adult programming with Bold and The Beautiful transferred from TV2.

“McCormick Country” was an informal chat show in which Gary McCormick addressed the problems and issues facing the nation - and if there were no problems he would find some. It debuted in July 1989 and returned later that year for a second series.
Screening on TV One (now TVNZ 1) at 8.05pm on the evening of Saturday 28 October 1989, the first programme in that series featured WWF wrestler Don ‘The Rock’ Muraco (who warned the kids to not try his wrestling moves, or crystal meth, at home and demonstrated a hold on the host) and actor Ian Watkin (who talked about being a coaster, Blerta and cricket fandom).
You can watch the first in the second series of “McCormick Country” via NZ On Screen by clicking its link above.
@OnAir @Leotv @TV4 Over on Channel 2 (now TVNZ 2), the 1980 film “Can’t Stop the Music” - a pseudo autobiography of disco’s The Village People, directed by Nancy Walker and also starring Valerie Perrine, Bruce Jenner (now Caitlyn Jenner) and Steve Guttenberg - screened at midnight, right after the music show “CV”.
I believe this has found a certain fame in Australia in being repeated on New Year’s Eve or early New Year’s Day maybe? @TelevisionAU will know
Can’t Stop The Music has been something of a New Years Eve/early New Years Day tradition for Nine for quite a few years. Although it doesn’t quite beat “Dinner For One” on SBS!
