Can’t be viewed in Australia unfortunately.
Analysis article by Variety on the CBS Evening News revamp
The incoming duo hosted a small preview of the new Evening News in the AFC game break last night. Shows more of the new branding in action.
Looks alright but I feel it should be more of a navy blue than black all-round.
Also Dickerson and DuBois together seems very old-school and beefcake with two males. O’Donnell herself wasn’t the best anchor but I think she probably would’ve been better paired with Dickerson or DuBois in a dual-presenter format.
pretty action - looking forward to the bulletin airing!
I wouldn’t be surprised if she refused and I think the return to New York was the main driver as well
Not a fan of weather like that, just present it straight up with no gimmicks.
Looks good. I like that they’re bucking the trend with having one male and one female and trying something different. Keen to see the full bulletin.
Love the animation at the beginning, but not quite sold on the new logo - also putting it in a circle like that limits how it is used to some degree.
caps from Pres Cafe:
they’ve done away with the headlines sequence, so its just intro, then straight into it
waiting for NewscastStudio to upload though for full coverage on the new look
almost jarring to have two men anchoring together! intro is nice but basic.
It’s very different, isn’t it? It’s very refreshing not to have two minutes of rambling headlines. Set looks great. Graphics are simple but very classy. Having Margaret Brennan there feels very 2019 Today, it’s almost like she’s the Tom Steinfort of the ensemble. I like what I’ve seen so far, though. They’ve clearly put a lot of effort into making the broadcast feel high-class. Hope it does well.
Harking back to McNeil/Lehrer and Huntley/ Brinkley. It’s extremely traditional in that sense and kinda mimics Sunday Morning in some ways in style which they’ve copied into Mornings too.
Looks gorgeous. I’d love to see one of our networks go with such a paired back and classy look like this, but unfortunately they’re all far too tabloid to fit.
SBS World News is probably the only one who could suit this.
