Carols in the Domain

I wonder if it’s more expensive or cheap to hire the theatre they’re in tonight as opposed to the cost of hiring out the Domain Gardens?

I reckon Seven will go for the cheaper option of the two going forward.

I reckon hiring out either one of the Domain Gardens or the ICC would be pretty expensive.

The theater must be the cheaper option you’d think.

The Opera singers. Just grouped together.

Now there’s an ad for the theatre.

Why did they have to go into a theatre?

Hasn’t the whole Covid thing been ur safer outdoors?

yep. Pops back up every now and again.

Is Carols By Candlelight airing without an audience?

Still at the Music Bowl?

Yes, an audience (albeit only the non-performing crew) and at the Bowl.

Will also include the socially distanced massed choir, so it should look pretty good I imagine.

The Robbie Williams interview and performance is very tacky IMO.

:man_facepalming: why do they always try to sing Mariah?

It’s about time they updated the finale.

I was going to say the same. Staging is quite good actually and I think the hosts’ corner is a nice addition. Larry and Kylie are a fresh change too.

The way everyone was complaining, and given the circumstances, I was expecting it to be much worse. It looks like each segment was shot in one take (look-live) too. An improvement on the last few years, I think.

Unless I’ve missed it (which is quite possible), there wasn’t any buzz on social media for tonight’s Carols in the Domain.

While I’m aware that the commentary on Twitter especially was just an excuse to roast just about every element of the broadcast (same deal with the Logies & New Years Eve) and that the families with young kids that CITD is probably aimed at generally aren’t on social media, this isn’t exactly an encouraging sign from a ratings perspective.
