New Canberra HPON station Forever Classic 60’s launched this week on DAB+ and on 97.5MHz, replacing the KIX Country HPON.
Isn’t Forever Classic the slogan for 2CA?
And is it normal for an HPON getting a slot on DAB?
Yes re Forever Classic slogan.
It’s because Capital Radio own the Queanbeyan 97.5 HPON licence and they’ve elected to put the DAB stream on it. Nothing new, they were doing this with KIX Country previously.
Has also replaced Kix on 100.7 Goulburn - so presume it’s a network-wide change.
Not sure. They don’t have a ‘big’ regional network, it’s only Cooma, Goulburn and Warragul.
And I don’t think Capital Radio have any other HPON licences, only Goulburn (as Cooma only has one HPON, and that’s Sky Radio… The sole Warragul HPON is owned by SEN).
Apparently, Forever Classic 60s is also now on Perth DAB as well, since Capital Radio also own 6IX.
A colleague sent me this today. Canberra hit breakfast is wilko and courts I thought? Seems like no more but all their branding remains the same
No new podcast episodes for Wilko and Courts since January 24…
Stickered the bus before announcing the change.
I too find that interesting about the bus ad going live before the on-air announcement.
Who’ll replace Mix106.3 Drive? Local programming? Or something from the Triple M Network? Surely not Marty.
They’ve really gone way too early with the buses. Maybe they already had a booking in place for Courts & Wilko and all they could do at the last minute was change the artwork… but for the next 2.5 weeks they’ve got busses advertising a show that the public won’t be able to find on that station or at that time.
Maybe instead of having a “local, music-based show” for 2 weeks they should have a best of Rod and Gabi playing bits from their drive show and saying when they’ll be live. At least that way they won’t instantly lose whatever audience arrives from the bus ads.
Then again, it is Canberra.
UPDATE: Based on the cryptic message from Wilko & Courts, I’d say this is a simple swap of shows, with Wilko & Courts to replace Rod & Gabi on Mix.
‘better work-life balance’
I guess that’s the new “spending more time with the family”?
“work-life balane” could also mean more decent work hours (i.e. 3-6pm on Mix106.3).
No they resigned from the company
Presumably for survey?
Whoops! Canberra buses announce a new breakfast radio team on Hit 104.7
As it turns out Wilko and Courts have resigned and did so last year! They weren’t told a leaving date by management, but now know it’s this Friday February 7 . Rod and Gabi take over on Hit Breakfast from Monday February 24 . Which leaves a Mix Drive vacancy that is yet to be filled and this cryptic response from the pair, who did that gig before Rod and Gabi
