In other Canberra news, I noticed on Thursday night (while looking into Scotty’s departure) that the 2CC facebook page was offline. I emailed the station to question it, and despite having received no response to my email, the page is now back online at the cover image was updated at 12:42pm on Friday. There’s been no other activity on the page since February when there was fairly regular activity. I’m guessing whoever had been looking after the page left. I wonder how long it was offline for.
Standard Capital Radio practice.
What’s happening with Mix106.3? Post on their FB page something big is coming and logo is a monochrome version.
Relaunch? Or a silly promo for a touring artist?
Didn’t they do something similar last year and it ended up just being a promo for some air show?
That’s what I thought too.
Boy Who Cried Wolf.
Here we go again.
It won’t be a relaunch.
Time to be original Mix Canberra (and Canberra radio in general).
Yes, last time they did it, they announced the return of Skyfire. It’s too early to announce it for next year (it’s not until March). It’ll be a tour, or a new contest, or something like that.
The state of Canberra radio does much to burnish its reputation as a boring city. Unfortunately the Canberra bowl- as well as blocking most of the interesting weather- also blocks interesting radio from out of town
$10K Secret Sound…
Does it jackpot up to $10k?
I dunno. I didn’t listen. Just saw the update on their socials. #Boring
Not according to the Ts & Cs. It looks like the prize is fixed at 10K.
When was this announced?
I don’t think it was. Not that I know who she is…
According to Radioinfo, Mix 106.3’s drive program, CBR Wrapped, has wrapped up for the time being.

Is it a case of too many people going on leave, so let’s just put the show on hold?
With a generic name of CBR Wrapped, surely they could just continue with Gabi and a temporary cohost. Unless Rod calls the shots of the program (being PD as well).
Patrick Sproule and Julian Abbott depart ABC Radio Canberra
Two of the long standing team with ABC Radio Canberra are leaving after collectively giving more than four decades service to the broadcaster.
Today, Thursday September 19, is Julian Abbott’s final day. He announced his retirement in March, took some leave, but as has been the nature of his career, has popped back in to lend a hand.
Today is my actual last day at the ABC. I’ve been on leave since March and now the end is here. I’ve just turned 60 and I’m ready for the next chapter which is retirement. I finish 38 days short of 33 years at the ABC. To everyone along the way in my 42 years in radio, thanks. pic.twitter.com/GO4j7Oqiot

Interesting to see this page appear on the Mix106.3 homepage:
Transport Canberra, amplifyCBR and Communities@Work are hitting the streets of Canberra again for this year’s ‘Pack the Bus’ initiative.
Keep an eye out for Santa Claus, Ms. Claus, a reindeer or even the Grinch driving the Transport Canberra Christmas bus as they make their way through the city spreading joy and sharing the spirit of giving.
Every day between 9 am to 3 pm from Monday 25 November to Friday 13 December 2024, our Santa helpers will visit registered locations to collect community donations for children and families in need.
To register your school or business to be a pickup location for ‘Pack the Bus’, head to MIX106 website to find out more.
