Canberra Radio

Other Triple M stations use the “Feels Good” positioner and still play Cold Chisel. But does this mean they’re keeping or getting rid of Kennedy/Molloy? The Club (music surveys)? Essential Vinyl segments? The Raiders footy call?

Nothing is changing with respect to programming, which is still managed by SCA.

The station that looks like a duck, but sounds like a horse.

I’m going back to the old Mix “Easy” era.

Ha! That’s on the proviso that they will, I very much doubt it.

It’s still going to be programmed by SCA. Triple M references happen all the time at the moment, so I don’t see that changing.

will this mean Kyle and Jackie O be finally heard in Canberra?

I doubt it.

I sure hope not.

With the rebranding of Mix 106.3 ARN should be responsible for the programming of Mix, and SCA for Hit 104.7 under the existing joint venture.

Mix 106.3 should remove any affiliation with Triple M and go more towards the music 96fm is doing in Perth and leave the hit music to Hit.

I have noticed that there is some cross over in music between Hit and Mix like they are competing with each other for ratings, some examples are -

Slow hands - Niall Horan
Locked out of Heaven - Bruno Mars
Castles - Freya Riding
Dancing with a Stranger -Sam Smith / Normani
Can We Pretend - Pink / Cash Cash
We need to Calm down - Taylor Swift
Choir - Guy Sebastian
Senorita - Shawn Mendes & Camilla

I guess they won’t make any changes to Mix
as it is the #1 rating station. Hit 104.7 needs to move away from the hit regional log and have their own music log. Fm104.7 was the most successful when it was locally programmed. I am not suggesting they go back to being a hard rock station like they were in the past.

Browsing through the playlists just now, it appears that Hit 104.7 now runs a separate log from the rest of the Hit regional network on weekends. On weekdays, they still carry the network log.

Here are the playlists from 9am to 3pm today (Saturday 7th December 2019) below, courtesy of Lava:

Hit 104.7
Hit Regional (via 101.3 Central Coast)

And here’s Mix 106.3 during that same period:

Mix 106.3 (9am-3pm AEDT, 07.12.2019)

I find it quite interesting the amount of programming SCA have over Canberra FM. Several years ago you’d hear the 3PM Pick Up on Mix106.3 (I may be wrong). These days it’s all about Kennedy Molloy, etc.

Regarding the logo change, it in no way will become more KIIS than Triple M.

Let’s not forget it’s previous/current logo was based on the ARN MixFM network, and yet they weren’t ever a female-skewed AC station.

Nothing will change, just the logo. To make it easier for ARN to sell a network that looks unified.

Exactly, my thought.

Found myself listening to XLFM/2XL this morning and it’s truly horrific radio. Gazza sounds like he’s well past his time. He spends half his time mumbling - and throw in the odd sexist comment and swear word. There’d be mass outcry if Alan Jones said the same things.
And then there’s some sidekick called Rick. I’m not convinced he’s even in the studio or live. He made a terrible “joke” followed by 30 seconds of forced/recorded laughter.

I couldn’t work out whether Rick is another person or just him doing another voice

Yes it sounds very bad, Gazza should stick to doing voice overs and programming the music for XLFm / 2GN / Snow / Eagle fm which he is very good at.

It sounds like an amateur guy on community radio (no offence to people on community radio some are very professional sounding). He does do great job programming the music. I wish thier stream didnt sound like a low bit rate dab station.

Just as Canberra FM announce that they are re-branding Mix 106.3 with a KIIS network logo, SCA has revealed their Summer Breakfast line-up for the regional Triple M stations, to be aired for a week from Monday 6th January.

Mix 106.3 Canberra’s drive show, The Wilko Show with Courts , will be heard on the regional Triple M stations for breakfast.
