Canberra Radio

Sorry for the confusion I did not receive it on TV. I received the audio on 91.75 on what is now a vintage pioneer hifi, now deceased with a wire fm antenna mounted

91.75 NBN audio carrier was a permanent signal, and one day when Kix 106 was very strong with tropo 91.75 was not NBN but ABC 3 audio carrier Canberra. It only happened once ever.

Mix 106.3, Canberra’s Triple M station, is taking on the KIIS Network look from 2020. No changes to programming at this stage:

I wonder if Kyle and Jackie O highlights could replace Kennedy and Molloy sometime in the next couple of years.

To make the transition easier, www.mix106.com.au has been given a facelift to be in line with remaining KIIS Network station websites.

Well overdue.

Has been like this for a few months at least, but definitely a delayed roll-out from the rest of the ARN websites (the Pure Gold and Edge sites use the same template)

Canberra, where you can get porn, prostitutes and fireworks at Fyshwick and the most mixed up branding in radio around over at Crace.

Fireworks were banned back in 2009 sadly, although some people still have a stash left over from the good old days

I thought this old joke was past its use by date!

An almost non-existent business these days.

NSW was the first to decriminalise and legalise it.

Have to go to Darwin.

So weird! Almost like when FM104.7 had a Today Network logo, and had a rock format (10 years after the rest of the Today Network had dropped a rock format).

I type off the cuff, limit to think of new material

Yeah for a while there I thought they should’ve rebranded 104.7 to Triple M.

Yes, I remember that whenever I was down in Canberra back in the late 90s & early-mid 00s. It was a bugbear for young radio listeners there for those who would prefer to listen to CHR during the day, in which they would have to tune to fortuitous reception of Eagle FM from Goulburn or Snow FM from Cooma, and also FM93 (later Star FM, now hit93.1) from Wagga, particularly before Eagle came on-air in January 1997.

Nowadays, Canberra has two CHR stations: hit104.7 on FM/DAB+ & Snow Digital on DAB+.

I remember reading that in the early days KIX106 was outrating FM104, had that trend continued, we could have easily had MIX104.7 and Hit106.3 now.

Here’s the article from The Canberra Times, dated 6th June 1988:

This was when FM104.7 (& 2CA) was changing ownership from the Macquarie Network to Austereo.

KIX 106 outrating FM104.7 only lasted for one survey, and that point on, FM104.7 continually outrated KIX for many years to come.

Geez, it took them nearly 5-6 years to do THAT?!

I probably could’ve done it myself just by doing a re-edit out of the current logos for KIIS 106.5 Sydney and Mix 102.3 Adelaide!

Totally agree. You’d think ARN would’ve gotten onto it sooner when they brought new branding to Mix/96/97.3.

Yeah me too. I liked the idea that all the Triple Ms would have been 104 something except Melbourne on 105.1

I know, right!? Funny that it happens only a couple of weeks after the discussion on here about them changing to Triple M. Maybe ARN is flexing their authority. It’s still gonna be odd hearing Triple M references dropped on a station with that logo.

This is making Mix (KIIS) 106.3 feel out-of-place in the Triple M/Localworks range…

Can’t be more out of whack than seeing a “Canberra. Feel Good.” tagline and hearing Cold Chisel on the radio.
