BINGE ANNOUNCES SEASON TWO OF HIT REALITY SERIES FBOY ISLAND AUSTRALIA
BINGE today announced that hit reality series FBOY Island Australia, hosted by podcaster and reality TV star Abbie Chatfield, will be returning for a second season in 2024.
The reality series follows three Australian women as they navigate the dating pool to uncover who are the “Nice Guys” looking for love and who are the “FBoys” only there to play the game and take home the cash prize.
Season one had Australia talking and was BINGE’s biggest reality premiere to date. The season finale saw 26-year-old occupational therapist Molly O’Halloran and 21-year-old model Ziara Rae both leave the show having formed a genuine connection with their winning love interest. Both couples are still in committed long-term relationships.
Abbie Chatfield said: “I am thrilled to be playing FBOY detective once again and returning to FBOY Island for another season.”
“FBOY Island Australia flips traditional dating formats on its head and amongst all of jokes, laughter and questionable behaviour it’s a show that challenges gender dynamics and encourages men to be accountable for their bad behaviour.”
Alison Hurbert-Burns, Executive Director BINGE and Commissioning & Content Foxtel Group said: “The response to season one of FBOY Island Australia was incredible and we can’t wait to take the second season to a whole new level.”
“We’re thrilled to welcome back Abbie Chatfield as the host of FBOY Island Australia. Her sense of humour and fresh take on hosting made for fun television and there is no better person to help our three leading ladies navigate the modern dating world.”
Casting for season two has now commenced and BINGE invites single women and men across Australia to apply for their chance to take part by heading to fboyislandcasting.com.au.
FBOY Island Australia is produced by Warner Bros. International Television Production Australia (WBITVP) for BINGE. FBOY Island Australia is an original format licensed by WBITVP. Executive producers from WBITVP are Dean Tocchini, Anson Charody-Bognar and Head of Entertainment Caroline Swift, along with Foxtel Group’s Head of Unscripted Originals Howard Myers and Alison Hurbert-Burns.
FBOY Island Australia is commissioned by the Foxtel Group for BINGE and will also be available on Foxtel.
FIRST LOOK AT NEW EVENT SERIES
TED
FROM AWARD-WINNING CREATOR SETH MACFARLANE
PREMIERES 11 JANUARY ON BINGE
First look teaser for the new event series Ted, from award-winning creator Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy), has been released ahead of its 11 January premiere on BINGE, with all seven-episodes dropping at once.

SETH MACFARLANE’S TED BROUGHT TO LIFE BY MELBOURNE VFX STUDIO FRAMESTORE IN AUSTRALIA
More than 156 Victorians have brought Seth MacFarlane’s obscene yet loveable bear, Ted, to life for a television series announced today by NBCUniversal.
Melbourne’s award winning VFX studio, Framestore originally created the iconic digital character for the first and second Ted films and will soon see their latest work on the new event series, a prequel, hit screens around the world.
Ted is the largest package of VFX work ever attracted to Victoria, cementing the state’s position as a global home for high-end VFX. The production injected up to $22 million into the Victorian economy, creating 156 local jobs at Framestore, where the team worked on the series for over a year.
Today’s announcement follows a record year for the visual effects, animation and post-production activity backed by VicScreen, with last financial year generating over $92 million in Victorian direct economic expenditure and over 550 full-time equivalent jobs.

Get ready for stitch inducing laughter – with Seth MacFarlane returning as the voice of Ted, in addition to having directed, written, co-showrun, and executive produced the series with co-showrunners, writers, and fellow executive producers Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh.
Seth MacFarlane raved about Framestore’s work on his social media, “Framestore’s studio in Melbourne has surpassed themselves with their exquisite VFX work on Ted for Peacock. Much gratitude to our Aussie friends.”

Caroline Pitcher, VicScreen CEO said, “Victoria is renowned for creating visual effects for some of the world’s biggest blockbusters including Emmy Award winning Game of Thrones, Mortal Kombat, Feng Shen and Lyle Lyle Crocodile. The continued attraction of some of world’s biggest projects highlights the world-class VFX talent we have on offer.”
Lara Hopkins Framestore Head of Studio said, “Seth has been an incredible creative partner for Framestore’s Melbourne team to work closely with, it’s been one of the most rewarding and fun projects we have worked on. We are very proud of the work which will no doubt shine a light on our fantastic talent in Melbourne and bring even more global projects for our incredible team.”
Framestore VFX Supervisor, Glenn Melenhorst said, “Bringing Ted to life for the first two films was a career highlight I didn’t think I could top - until this new show came along. Working with Seth and Blair has been a masterclass in acting for comedy and an experience I will treasure. It’s been a genuine pleasure to get the old team back together.”
Framestore Executive VFX Producer, Ineke Majoor said, “I started discussions with Fuzzy Door’s executive Jason Clark back in 2021 around the feasibility of bringing our beloved Ted character to a streaming series for Peacock Entertainment. It was a daunting prospect to say the least producing over 2400 Ted shots within a year. By far the biggest project that Framestore’s Melbourne team has ever undertaken and the results are nothing short of astonishing. Seth McFarlane clearly agrees.”
Ted is produced by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, Fuzzy Door and MRC Television for Peacock, with Victorian VFX work facilitated by Matchbox Pictures, and is set to premiere on 11 January in the United States and on BINGE in Australia.
The project was attracted to Victoria by VicScreen’s Victorian Screen Incentive, which brings some of the world’s most electrifying screen projects to life.
Binge must have a huge marketing budget, I saw blanket digital signage at Brisbane Airport this morning for their $2 promo and have arrived at Sydney airport and they have massive Binge logos on all the gangways along the domestic terminal.
Would be interesting to know what they spend vs say Stan / P+ etc in Australia.
Binge doesn’t have many original shows does it vs Stan?
I wouldn’t pay $2 a month for Binge with Ads.
Even The Simpsons think Binge+ is rubbish. S34E20.
But Binge has HBO and first window rights on pretty much every Hollywood movie, which I’d argue is stronger than Stan’s acquired library.
Binge arguably has a better library of content, thanks to their various overseas studio deals and leveraging Foxtel channels and content.
Stan has been around longer, and therefore has more original commissions and local content but I’d say Binge has a pretty decent back catalogue of Australian content to watch also.
Binge is certainly making a bit of a name for itself with what they local stuff they’ve commissioned so far, Colin From Accounts, Love Me, RHOS, FBoy Island etc.
Plus new commissions with Strife, Mix Tape, How to Make Gravy, Billion Dollar Playground etc.
They only really have HBO now and that doesn’t give them much over the other streaming platforms. In terms of Movie rights. I think the rights are very similar. If they have any first-run rights it wouldn’t be much. I know prime does seem to get a lot.
Binge and Stan will struggle when max comes to Australia in 2025 and steals all the HBO content
HBO is MAX though, just different names. I am sure they will go with Foxtel again because Foxtel will want to try and stay “relevant.”
Max, the streaming service, is launching in Australia in 2025 which means all HBO content currently on Binge will no longer be there.
Not correct. Max is coming to Australia
Not correct.
Max is the merging of all the discovery content and all the warners content. As well as the hbo content.
