Big Brother

I’m assuming it’s the US version of Big Brother (Head of household, housemate eliminations etc) but will be filmed ahead of time and the public vote for the winner from the F2 (either they film 2 endings or do the finale months later in front of a live audience).

Not necessarily. They could record multiple endings.

Which completely nuliifies the moment, both for the viewer and all participants concerned, especially the “winner”.

How does it nullify the moment for the viewers?

Return of Big Brother getting some attention in Brisbane.

Probably not the response they were after. Not a single positive comment for the show’s return.

Saw a 2001 BB Board Game at the local Vinnies store the other day.

Because viewers can see a fake moment a mile off. We want to see the reaction of the winner to winning, not the reaction a contestant thinks they might have if htey do win.

so im guessing if this is a ratings flop they dont have to pay ???

No - what Seven have done is delayed when they pay the production costs for the show

Clearly times are tough at seven yet they continue to pay exorbitant sports rights fees, have an overly large news department, continually have “special” events like that fire concert. They really need to start trimming the fat and go back to basics.

The first one about sports is a really BIG problem. They’re bleeding because they wouldn’t properly negotiate with sports code about the cost and conditions of sport deals, and as a result has led to them signing deals that is overly bloated and leading to little investment elsewhere. Time to cut their sports deals loose, beginning with that abysmal cricket deal.

No more Olympic either. And all the small rights deals they have. They can barely afford prime time programming considering they won’t pay for big brother until post production.

I think the AFL is enough to keep Seven afloat. Although I’ll give Olympics a pass since it’s exclusive.

Back to Big Brother Seven should just forget about paying for BB because it certainly won’t deliver as they hoped. Move to a new format like The Circle and they’ll do better. Rehashing old formats aren’t going to save them (unless Seven does a 10 and produces a high quality show).

they will come up with the money at the end of production

Are you the chief financial officer or chief accountant at Seven or something?

I doubt a 2020 Big Brother revival is/was going to do that well, regardless of the host network. Audiences have seemingly moved onto other “reality” formats (MAFS and IAC,GMOOH instantly come to mind) which are more or less “Big Brother with a twist”.

And realistically, surely this next series of Big Brother on Seven is likely to be another “family friendly” one given their general reputation for programming?! I’m even expecting them to go as far as having distinctively Seven personalities such as Kochie or Johanna Griggs as celebrity guest intruders!

I’d go as far as saying that it’s not just Seven but every network which needs to move onto new formats. But that debate is for another time and topic.

FTA television in Australia desperately needs something. There’s no buzz or excitement any more.
