Big Brother

Voting each other out is NEW !

What do you mean?

the contestants vote the person to leave the house rather than by viewers, that’s a rather big change

I am sorry i haven’t seen this been announced?

Also if that is true it kind of defeats the purpose of big brother and what made it so good with the viewers doesn’t it? The fact that it was interactive, live and the public got to have a say on what they see. Not the sort of change I would like to see from Big Brother.

Do Netflix have the global rights? Perhaps, that might be a stumbling block for the FTA networks. It does encourage a lot of diversity.

For example, this season we’ve seen a 63-year-old man pretending to be a 27-year-old girl, a 43-year-old woman pretending to be a 25-year-old guy, a 53-year-old gay man and now national treasure, a 21-year-old girl with Crohn’s disease and a 31-year-old gay man with cerebral palsy.

I couldn’t imagine Big Brother or any other reality TV show casting a group so diverse. The Circle is a show that has universal appeal and draw people regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation or ability. The show is breaking the conventions of reality TV in my opinion and in the words of my favourite fascia and soffit expert builder from Hampshire, they’re doing a banging job (I still don’t know the price of a single brick though).

To be fair, they’ve done a lot of that over the last few years. It’s just pretty much nothing has worked for them and the few shows which had potential they either gave up on too easily (eg; All Together Now) or screwed it over (eg; Instant Hotel).

No they don’t.

Instant Hotel was one of my favourite 7 shows when they aired it last year. Then this year they completely changed the format.

All Together now was another one that I thought had potential. Then they gave up on it and aired an older format in Australia’s Got Talent this year.

This is my point with 7. How can you be ‘fair’ to them when the new things they have done they haven’t had enough confidence in.

Andrew Hornery in the SMH today mentions a source that claims "costings had already been done to build the show’s house-set inside the huge Everleigh studios in Redfern, where it (Seven) films My Kitchen Rules ".

There aren’t many presenters who have the intelligence and ability to carry a weekly live television event in the way Gretel did back in the day. Nothing threw her. It would be difficult for Seven to find a young presenter with the same qualities.

Yes I read the story and understood what David’s intention behind it was, I merely posted a link to it as I thought it was interesting and may be of interest to other users here, so not sure why you’re aiming it at me when I didn’t even pass any comment.

Just wanted to add my +1 for The Circle UK - I’m hooked!

After it was praised on here, I’ve since caught up on all the episodes to date and am captivated by the totally different concept. Imagine a Big Brother where the housemates never actually meet together in person — it’s insane!

I loved Big Brother back in the Ten glory days, but really lost interest with Nine’s ‘family-friendly’ revival. These BB stories on social media seem to create a bit of a buzz, so I really hope this new reincarnation is more successful (once offically confirmed!).

Your comment was they haven’t thought of new ideas/invested in new formats even though they’ve done both of those things. Their problem (as I explained in my last post) has been that for a range of reasons (some inflicted by Seven themselves), none of their gambles have worked

My comments was mainly directed to after the olympics and the fact 7 have just picked up another tired format, I didn’t say 7 have not tried new ideas. However they haven’t really invested in those new ideas. All together now did well and could have built this year. Instant hotel was a hit on Netflix but they screwed with the format. So it isn’t really investing in those new ideas. 7 have their dog show next year and it will be interesting to see how they treat that new show. I think it may do ok.

The issue is when they ‘gamble’ as you put it they go in with their chips but quickly back out rather than seeing the hand the others have. 7 aren’t committed to the gamble and that is the problem.

Yeah on Gogglebox’s last episode when they showed The Masked Singer and it was revealed it was Gretel, the daughter from the Indian family said “who?”

I’m not sure now with social media more prevalent, if a show about watching people in a house do random things is going to rate very high. Depends on the people that end up on it I guess.

The younger generation didn’t know who Gretel was first time around on Ten either, but she has the type of personality to connect with the audience really quickly.
Viewers of Weekend Sunrise would know her.

Dunno why everyone is paying out on AGT saying its a failure. I thought it’s ratings were pretty solid, enough to justify a renewal

People won’t watch BB because of the host, but the host will certainly add to the show and possibly make it more popular.

Do you not remember the Michael and Gretel incident live on tv when he accussed big brother of manipulating the editing ?

She went at him like a bullet on a train. qaa

For me, the best part was when it wad axed. But then it sadly came back. Now it is tragically threatening to come back again. And we have to endure hundreds of comments in this thread which say nothing much at all.
